About the Job
Boston University Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is seeking applicants with diverse skills and experiences to join our innovative and inclusive community. You will join as a Network Transport Engineer I where you will support the planning, design, and implementation of network systems (including wireless) at an entry-to-intermediate professional level. You will also provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for tasks of medium to high complexity, working collaboratively within a team-oriented environment. As part of Network Transport Engineering, you will report to the Network Transport Manager and work onsite at our Charles River Campus.
You will:
- Planning and Consultation: Collaborate with team members to gather requirements, explore technical and financial options, recommend solutions, and provide project cost estimates.
- Project Management: Assist with planning and executing installation projects, including scheduling tasks, procuring equipment and materials, coordinating contractors, configuring and installing network equipment, testing and certification, documentation, and managing project budgets and billing.
- Infrastructure Management: Troubleshoot and repair basic issues in network transport facilities under the guidance of senior team members.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- 1 or more years of experience in network engineering or a related role.
- Experience in structured cabling, project management, or network support.
Bonus Qualifications:

- Cisco CCNA certification, familiarity with network hardware and software, and hands-on experience with diagnostic tools.
