Job Description
The Network Technician is responsible for ensuring the telecommunications and data communications networks are fully operational and meet the needs of the organization and its customers. This role provides technical leadership, expertise, and guidance to IT staff and internal customers. The Network Technician will be tasked with designing, monitoring, and optimizing network equipment and systems to meet established IT standards. The position involves analyzing network performance, resolving system issues, and implementing improvements for better network efficiency. In addition, the role contributes to the development of network strategies and plays a vital part in system planning and design.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Network Design & Project Management: Lead evaluations, design, planning, and project management for network systems.
Network Installation & Support: Provide primary IT support for network installations and resolve related issues across multiple sites (approximately 50% travel).
Helpdesk & Troubleshooting: Perform helpdesk duties including network integration, problem resolution, and software/hardware support.
Operating System Administration: Support the routine administration of operating systems (user accounts, security, and maintenance).
Process Improvement: Recommend process enhancements to ensure optimal system usage and performance.
Collaborate with IT Teams: Work with internal teams on network integration, application support, and configuration issues.
User Support & Training: Offer functional guidance, user training, and resolve system-related issues.
Network Setup & Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.
Network Optimization: Monitor network performance and conduct routine maintenance to optimize stability and security.
Security Measures: Implement network security protocols (firewalls, encryption, access controls) to safeguard organizational data.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations and any changes.
Vulnerability Management: Assist in identifying and addressing network vulnerabilities.
Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with IT service providers for necessary hardware/software purchases.
Qualification Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience with Microsoft desktop and network technologies or equivalent education and experience.
Certifications: Microsoft technical certifications or equivalent practical experience preferred.
Customer Service: Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service and technical support.
Pay Summary:
Salary up to $115,000/yr, depending on experience.
