About the Job
Responsibilities:
1. Perform internal network security assessments to evaluate the district's current architecture, protocols, and configurations.
2. Identify and document risks related to access controls, network misconfigurations, and outdated technologies.
3. Analyze network traffic, firewall configurations, and routing tables to identify potential security weaknesses.
4. Provide recommendations for enhancing network security, including segmentation, access control policies, and encryption standards.
5. Collaborate with the Cybersecurity Analyst to address vulnerabilities within the broader network framework.
6. Review the effectiveness of current security appliances, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems, and recommend upgrades or replacements.
7. Work with district staff to ensure secure remote access configurations and VPN implementations.
8. Provide a comprehensive report detailing network risks, improvement opportunities, and a prioritized remediation plan.
9. Assist in implementing quick fixes or workarounds for critical network vulnerabilities.
10. Support documentation efforts for network diagrams, security configurations, and best practices.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in network security analysis.
Hands-on experience with network tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, and Cisco Secure.
Proficiency in analyzing protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP) and security configurations.
Certifications such as CISSP, CND, or CCNP Security preferred.
Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Required Technical Skills:
Networking Tools: SolarWinds, Wireshark, tcpdump.
Firewall and IDS/IPS Solutions: Palo Alto Networks, Cisco ASA, Fortinet, Snort.
VPN and Remote Access: Cisco AnyConnect, OpenVPN, or equivalent.
Cloud Networking: AWS VPCs, Azure Networking, Google Cloud Networking.
Proficiency with network protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture and advanced segmentation techniques.
Certifications: CCNP Security, CISSP, or CND preferred.
