Work Type: 100% Onsite
Schedule: Night Shift (6 PM – 6 AM, including weekends and holidays)
Duration: 12 months with the possibility of a 36-month extension
Visa Requirement: Visa-independent candidates only
Position Overview
Clemson University Computing and Information Technology (CCIT) seeks a Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician to join its team. This is a critical, hands-on position responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing the university’s IT infrastructure during night hours. You will play a key role in ensuring network reliability, resolving technical issues, and collaborating with subject matter experts to enhance operational performance.
The role demands strong technical acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment while working independently.
Daily Responsibilities
- Network and System Monitoring:
- Monitor Clemson’s network, server, and application environments.
- Identify and resolve incidents, alerts, and service requests.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform IP network troubleshooting and DNS configuration.
- Utilize monitoring tools like Splunk and SolarWinds to ensure infrastructure health.
- Conduct periodic system maintenance and batch processing monitoring.
- System Configuration and Support:
- Configure network and system resources and update system records/documentation.
- Perform pre-configured port activations on network switches.
- Customer Support:
- Provide Tier II support and escalate issues to subject matter experts as needed.
- Deliver excellent customer service for all telecommunications and network support areas.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
- Prepare and review operational documentation for training and knowledge bases.
- Participate in team training and cross-training activities.
Required Skills
- Technical Expertise:
- IP Network troubleshooting and DNS configuration.
- Proficiency with monitoring tools such as Splunk and SolarWinds.
- Server batch scripting experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Documentation and Communication:
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Ability to document processes and share knowledge effectively.
