DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Network Engineer/Technician
- Monitor network usage and workloads to determine utilization trends.
- Suggest and provide IT solutions to business and management problems based on findings.
- Basic technical support at the network level; WAN and LAN connectivity and security.
- Assist with installation and maintenance of peripheral devices including firewalls, routers, switches, and access points.
- Work with the network team on existing projects involving network infrastructure.
- Maintain network device documentation and diagrams with the most up to date information.
- Communicate with consultants and vendors for more in-depth troubleshooting.
- Perform preventative maintenance on network hardware and analyze hardware at several facilities; which includes opening all equipment, analyzing existing components, and cleaning or replacing components.
- Create component inventory and install components and software. Install software on new or existing computers and communicate with Network Support for equipment upgrades company-wide.
- Use internal documentation to track equipment and perform updates.
- Ensure all computers meet standard requirements and maintain network equipment and wiring.
- Map computer/network infrastructure of all facilities.
- Create technical documentation.
- Work with computer/network layout for all stores using existing basic floor plans of each facility.
- May be required to travel to other facilities.
- Analyze power consumption on network racks and work with facility staff to resolve any power issues.
Help Desk
- Track and report assigned tickets and projects and support helpdesk requests and phone calls.
- Works with IT staff to investigate and implement ways of reducing calls to the IT Help Desk.
- Keeps IT support staff and Information Technology Manager informed of trends, significant problems, unexpected delays or tasks of a critical nature.
- Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers, laptops, smart devices, and printers.
- Assist with telecom administration and setup/configuration of Avaya VOIP phone system and software.
- Assist with implementation of computer systems, software and networks, and ensure system hardware and software are compatible and capable of required performance metrics.
- Help resolve technical issues involving core business applications and operating systems.
- Will be provided a computer and company cell phone to assist with performing tasks.
- Other duties may be assigned.
SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues.
- Hands on experience in developing, customizing, and administering workflows and reports.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and good communication skills.
- Ability to analyze technical and business problems and recommend solutions to clients and engineers.
- Ability to coordinate projects.
- Ability to work independently and to work well in a team simultaneously.
- Attention to detail.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
College degree (Associates or Bachelors) or computer network technician training from a technical school preferred but not required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid class C driver license and a clear DMV driving record.
