Job Details
The Network Infrastructure Architect is responsible to design, builds and maintain the Local and Wide Area Network including servers, routers, gateways, switches, as well as administrative support and management of the Cisco Telecommunication systems. The position also provides direct support and troubleshooting for any issues with related systems as well as analysis and response for internet security threats.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the Local and Wide Area Network Infrastructure
- Install and Maintain Servers, Switches, Routers, and Firewalls; Operating Systems; and server-based software packages
- Architect, install and maintain firewall hardware and software.
- Work extensively with internet service provider to maintain, monitor and support Internet connection for the school.
- Design and document all procedures for support of the Local Area Network, Wireless Networks, Virtual Private Networks, and Wide Area Network components
- Design and implement and maintain a business continuity plan for all computer hardware and software components.
- Develop plans to safeguard computer files against unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure.
- Choose, implement, monitor, and upgrade computer anti-virus and malware protection systems.
- Encrypt data transmissions and erect firewalls to conceal confidential information during transmit.
- Implement password authentication to keep unauthorized users from accessing sensitive data files.
- Modify security files to incorporate new software, correct errors, and change user access status.
- Perform risk assessments and tests on running data processing activities and security measures.
- Educate workers about computer security and promote security awareness and security protocols.
- Work with hardware and software vendors to ensure current technology meets growing needs
- Research current technology
- Evaluate, recommend, and order appropriate hardware and/or software
- Recommend new technology to support the administrative and academic programs.
- Review vendor specifications and recommend hardware and software appropriate to meet the administrative and academic programs.
- Investigate and implement open-source applications
- Provide support to computer technicians, acting as a backup and assist with escalations
- Partner with vendors to troubleshoot issues with network applications with their guidance
- Provide direct support for network end users of networked applications and hardware
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field; or combination of related education and experience.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining the Local and Wide Area Network Infrastructure, consisting of servers, routers, internet gateway, and firewalls.
- 3+ years of project management experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-wide infrastructure and application
- Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA, (ISC)2 certification preferred
- Knowledgeable about NIST framework and Standards; Cisco hardware and configuration skills; wireless technology and radius authentication; infrastructure security including firewalls, antivirus and other schemes to ensure security and safe computing environment
- Analytical, problem-solver, critical thinker
- Strong customer service skills with demonstrated responsiveness to customer needs
- Demonstrated ability to partner with end users to deliver strategic solutions
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent project management skills
