Objective:
The High-Velocity Learning Environment IT Network Engineer provides IT services, logistical support, and maintenance in support of HVLE Training System requirements.
Job Description:
• Develop applicable network documentation including network diagrams;
• Ensure technical requirements have included compliance factors associated with National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publications and/or DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF);
• Conduct network performance planning;
• Conduct network capacity planning;
• Conduct component warranty monitoring;
• Support hardware lifecycle management;
• Conduct software version management;
• Process scheduled IT routines, respond to network error conditions, apply standard operating procedures or corrective procedure;
• Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users;
• Evaluate and modify system’s performance;
• Identify user needs;
• Control, maintain custody, safeguard, or dispose of information in accordance with prescribed procedures;
• Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, software deployment, security updates and patches;
• Assist instructor staff with the use of the training system’s components;
• Provide technical direction to System Administrators;
• Protect or control access to facilities and information systems while maintaining records of visitors to the training system;
• Conduct daily system start-up and or shutdown procedures;
• Setup and breakdown training systems, equipment, and facilities as required;
• Maintain training system facility cleanliness as required;
• Perform scheduled inventories and report results;
• Perform required Preventive Maintenance and authorized Corrective Maintenance as required;
• Perform compliance testing in support of RMF;
• Support ISSM in maintaining and tracking IAVM program compliance;
• Review and document security assessments of computing environments;
• Assist Training System Administrator(s) and ISSM with quarterly and annual audit reviews and reporting;
• Complete compliance updates within eMASS;
• Complete network vulnerability scanning with ACAS;
• Track and document scan results and residual risks;
• Maintain and update policy-based documentation;
• Perform work as Information System Security Engineer as required;
• Perform work as Training System Administrator to support end users as required;
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities;
• Keep project in compliance with corporate and public regulations;
• Create, manage, and distribute reports related to the project;
• Ability to assess weights, judge distances and heights;
• Able to work in varying temperatures, depending upon seasons, may be required to perform duties both indoors and outdoors;
• Local travel within Hampton Roads required;
• Additional duties as assigned.
Employment Status:
Full-time (40 hours per week), Salaried. Exempt.
Qualifications:
Network Engineer
• Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems, or related field preferred;
• Ability to obtain “Secret” level security clearance; this position is designated IT-II (Non-Critical - Sensitive) in accordance with SECNAV M-5510.30;
• CCNA certified or documented educational or military training directly related to Cisco routers and switches preferred;
• 3+ years of documented DoD or DoN Risk Management Framework experience;
• Minimum of 1 year of eMASS experience;
• 4+ years of employment experience as a Network Engineer;
• Must be Security + (CE) certified; this position is designated IAT-II in accordance with DoD 8570; IAT-II equivalent or higher vendor certification will be accepted;
• Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a satisfactory operating record;
• Possess basic maintenance skills and knowledge;
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds unassisted;
• Ability to effectively communicate directly with clients, suppliers, Active Duty and Government Service employees, other company employees and program team members;
• Excellent organizational and time management skills;
• Ability to evaluate problems and recommend solutions;
• Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, and Linux experience a plus;
• U.S. Citizenship required
