Senior Network Engineer
Improvix Technologies, Inc.is seeking highly motivated, professional and responsible Senior Network Engineer to manage and maintain the network on behalf of a Federal client. The following outlines responsibilities and duties for the position:
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring junior Network Engineering staff and handling advanced support issues. Ultimately, you will be responsible for the functional management of our network, the delegation of tasks, and the resolution of network issues.
To ensure success as a Senior Network Engineer, you should have extensive experience working with enterprise networks, high-level managerial skills, and advanced project management skills. A Top-class Senior Network Engineer ensures the networking team performs as a cohesive unit, maintaining the stability and performance of the network.
**Candidates must have a TS clearance for this position**
- Provides system design, architecture, and Tier III support for a predominately Cisco environment that includes core route/switch, firewalls, security, and wireless.
- Develops and maintains Enterprise system monitoring and management tools such as Solarwinds, Splunk, Wireshark, Cisco Ironport, Bluecat Proteus, and Cisco IS.
- Utilizes enterprise-level tools and products to provide network services, including: firewalls, IPS/IDS, DNS, DHCP, web security, TACACS+, VPN and NAC.
- Researches and implements Cisco SRND/SAFE and industry best practices.
- Supports and maintains Linux/Unix and other open source software to include BIND and Nessus.
- Works with network, server, storage virtualization, i.e. MDS switching infrastructure, VSAN, VRF, VPN, and VMWare vSphere.
- Works with IOS, NX-OS, EIGRP, BGP, GRE and OSPF.
- Day to day network maintenance to include installation, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Review and analyze current network processes and procedures.
- Develop and recommend improvements to network processes and procedures.
- Implement, manage, and maintain approved network process improvement recommendations.
- Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control plans for maintenance of the network.
- Review, analyze, document, and implement disaster recovery plans for the network.
- Research, design, and implement security solutions for network infrastructure.
- Monitor, review, analyze, performance tune, and make recommendations that will result in continued optimization of the network.
- Administer and manage firewall security appliances.
- Monitor, review, analyze, performance tune, and make recommendations that will result in continued optimization of the network.
- Document, install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot switches, firewalls, routers, wireless systems, and ancillary support systems.
- Recognize, track, report on, and mitigate potential network security vulnerabilities.
- Generate and follow procedures for ensuring the continued reliability of the network.
- Research, compile, and analyze network designs to assist with the resolution of network issues.
- Apply standards, policies, principles, practices and techniques of network engineering and documentation.
- Utilize experience with network protocols, subnets, virtual LANs, firewalls, VPNs, and other common network technologies.
Minimum Requirements:
· Education: High school Graduate or equivalent (College Degree preferred)
· Certification: Network+, or six (6) months of additional technical experience
· Technical Experience: 1year experience performing help desk, response team, or administrator-related duties
· Security Clearance: Top Secret Clearance (with SCI)
Desired Requirement:
· Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)
