POSITION PURPOSE:This position is with the Enterprise Networking Services team within the Bureauof Infrastructure under the Pennsylvania Office of Administration (OA). Thepurpose of this position is to provide network support for enterprise networkswithin the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The selected candidate will be responsible for providing technical support forplanning, designing, maintaining, and integrating local and wide area networkinfrastructure and will have input into the Enterprise networking architecturedeployed throughout the Commonwealth’s Enterprise. The selected candidate mustbe able to communicate well and needs to be a highly technical and eagerindividual with numerous years of experience in a large environment.CCNA and CCNP certificates or higher are preferred, but candidates withdemonstrable levels of commensurate hands-on experience will be considered.DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:Provide support for the Enterprise networks such as COPA Net, Keystone Net;manage vendors that support management of the Enterprise networks. Knowledge ofthe installation, configuration, and maintenance, and management of networkinfrastructure consisting primarily of switches, routers, firewalls, Silver PeakSD-WAN edge appliances, wireless infrastructure, cellular-based appliances, andall associated hardware and software.Performs network management functions utilizing various industry tools tomonitor, test, verify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network problems byworking with users, service providers, business partners, and others to resolveproblems.Act as a vendor liaison and interfaces directly with all the technical vendorssupplying data network services to Commonwealth agencies. This requires theenforcement of all rules governing SLA’s and standards dealing with scheduledsystems upgrades and testing.Understand the design of LAN/WAN network architecture including: * Network bandwidth analysis and capacity planning. * Detailed specifications and schematic engineering drawings for network enhancements and modifications.Assists in the execution of planned deployments and upgrades and supports changemanagement efforts within the edge networking group.Assists widespread events/ incidents to customers and other networking teams asneeded.Proactively identifies and troubleshoots issues related to complex networkproblems and works them to resolution, including communication to othernetworking teams.Evaluates current and future Enterprise network needs and works with theEnterprise architect and Enterprise Service Delivery team to prepare technicalsolutions and recommendations.Reviews the development of configuration standards.Ensures that all existing and new networks meet or exceed the securityrequirements set forth by OA.Utilize network documentation including but not limited to network diagrams,spreadsheets, and vendor documentation for troubleshooting purposes. Develop andmaintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.Maintains an understanding of various routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.Maintains a working knowledge of network monitoring tools and automation.Responsible for assigned roles within the Enterprise Change Management system toinclude; submitting and reviewing change requests, as well as, communicatingthese scheduled events through the Network Notifications process.Be familiar with ITIL 4 framework and best practices. Understand the ServiceManagement Practices such as change management, problem and incident management.Coordinates Enterprise change management efforts with vendors, Delivery Centers,Agencies and other Enterprise network teams.Participates in Service Now trouble ticket resolution and reporting.Ensures that assigned Enterprise Network Services networking trouble tickets orincidents follow established processes and are fully documented within ServiceNow.Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with other employees,vendors, and business partners.Performs other duties as required.ADA REQUIREMENTS:Equipment in use in Job Performance: Personal Computers, servers, networkcomponents, telephones, calculator, copy machines, printers, faxes, cell phonesand common writing devices. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to workfrom a step ladder.JOB LOCATION:Part-time telework is an option for this position, as is working from astructured office setting at an approved Commonwealth-owned facility. Occasionalattendance at various meetings, conferences, and training sessions, as well asovernight travel, may be required.*** Only candidates currently residing within the greater Harrisburg,Pennsylvania area will be considered for this position. ***DECISION MAKING:Appropriately manages time and engages other edge networking teams as needed orrequired. Overall performance of the network team and availability/performanceof the network and customer satisfaction are factors used to determine level ofsuccess.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
