Position Overview:
- The Network Engineer is part of the team which provides mission critical large-scale infrastructure services for various businesses across the globe.
- The department manages the production infrastructure and network connectivity both within and between data centers and public clouds via the global backbone.
- Supports cloud infrastructure operations, implementations, and service-oriented infrastructure strategies.
- The responsibilities include contributing to a wide range of projects from automation, data center build outs, network upgrades, monitoring / telemetry, and cloud platform infrastructure services.
Responsibilities:
- Build and operate client’s cloud infrastructure systems, networks, platforms (e.g., release, upgrades/update/patch, version control)
- Support cloud infrastructure automation (Networking and Linux)
- Perform tasks using infrastructure automation CI/CD, Jenkins, Git workflow
- Build out and refresh of cloud infrastructure for data centers and public clouds with emphasis on next generation cloud networking and connectivity services
- Manage initiatives and projects mentioned with support from leads and senior staff Support operations and review incidents leveraging vendors and partners Tier 2 operation support; leverage industry knowledge, various analysis, and performance tools, participate in a globally distributed on-call
Required Qualifications:
- cSRX / container firewall
- SP MPLS RSVP, but no TE yet
- RRs in DCs for iBGP
- Must have: Ansible, Linux, Juniper
- Nice to have: Terraform, Jenkins, AWS (would like experience with both AWS & GCP networking)
- Cumulus Linux NOS - current releases developed by NVIDIA
- on-prem vs. cloud work
- Planning to migrate from POPs to NaaS providers like Megaport
- Experience in Data Center Collocations, getting infrastructure from loading dock to up and running in racks, guiding remote hands
- Long Haul Circuits (Leased Lines, Waves, Protected Ethernet, Cross Connects)
- DC Cabling, fiber (SMF, MMF), copper (patching systems, Cat5e, 6 etc, Transceivers/GBICs/SFPs)
- Juniper Routers and Firewalls - Routing / Router Protocols (FHRP, OSPF, BGP)
- Switching (L2/L3 - STP, VLANs, VXLANs, EVPN, Spine Leaf)
- Serial Console Servers for example: OpenGear
- Linux - both for networking and for systems
- IP Addressing (private, public) - Internet Number Registries/Committees
- Public Cloud AWS and GCP Networking
- Ready for "NetDevOps”
- Build out, Migrate and Teardown of DCs/Network POPs
- Ability to manage and troubleshoot core infrastructure technologies: Linux systems, network routers, switches, firewalls
- Ability to manage cloud infrastructure automation using tools such as: Chef, Ansible, Vagrant, Terraform, Jenkins, Python, APIs
- Knowledge of Linux and Network operating systems, command-line interfaces, network routing and switching protocols
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and OSI model, different physical network cabling transceiver types and standards
- Basic understanding of MPLS (L2/L3 VPN, LDP, RSVP), VXLAN EVPN, MP-BGP, VRFs
- Experience with public cloud networking: AWS, Azure, GCP
- Five (5) or more years of Network Engineering related experience required.
- Linux or network certification
