Network Engineer - Level 1
About Us: We are seeking a talented Network Engineer at the Level 1 tier to contribute to our network management efforts. As a Network Engineer, you'll engage in various aspects of network management, from initial design through implementation, maintenance, and network enhancements. Your role will involve analyzing network characteristics, troubleshooting issues, and providing recommendations for network components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate on network design and implementation, ensuring network functionality aligns with software engineering requirements.
- Analyze network characteristics, including traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput.
- Investigate and diagnose network and telecommunications system incidents and problems.
- Document workaround solutions for identified errors and apply them following established procedures.
- Keep network hardware and software up to date by applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
- Install and configure new network and telecommunications systems hardware and software.
- Analyze network and telecommunications system logs, identify potential issues, and initiate corrective actions.
- Perform network system backups according to established procedures.
- Monitor network and telecommunications system performance and respond to anomalies and issues as per documented procedures.
- Build and prepare network and telecommunications systems for deployment, conducting testing as required.
- Maintain network and telecommunications systems diagrams and configuration documentation.
- Configure, test, install, troubleshoot, and maintain security devices such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptographic devices, and routers.
- Ensure the security posture of the network by optimizing device performance.
- Provide monitoring support to ensure accredited network and telecommunications systems comply with Certification and Accreditation standards.
- Configure, test, install, troubleshoot, and maintain Plain Old Telephone (POTs) phone systems, VoIP phone systems, Video Teleconference (VTC) systems, and VSAT TDMA IP-based satellite systems.
- Conduct module, unit, subsystem, and system level testing following documented methods and procedures.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Network Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university (or five additional years of relevant experience in Network Engineering disciplines can be substituted for a bachelor's degree).
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- One of the following certifications:
- Computer Technology Industry Association - Network+ (Network+)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate - (CCNA) Routing and Switching
- Cisco Certified Network Associate - (CCNA) Security
- Cisco Certified Network Associate - (CCNA) Video
- Cisco Certified Network Associate - (CCNA) Voice
