POSITION OBJECTIVE:The role of the Network Administrator is to design, support, maintain, and evaluate computer networking and telecommunication systems; ensure the overall network security of the agency; proactively and reactively ensure internet threats are identified and remedied; installs, configures, and maintains both physical and virtual computer servers; maintains employee network, and e-mail accounts. The position also delivers technical customer support or on-site as needed; identify, troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of technical computer-related problems; make the distinction between Level Two and Level Three end-user problems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees the day-to-day analysis of computer networks including hardware/software systems
- Develop and Propose ongoing solution enhancements and operational efficiencies
- Assist in the development and Update MIS Policies and Procedures
- Maintain High Availability and Disaster Recovery configurations for the datacenter and all service centers.
- Plans, designs and implements data connectivity for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems
- Assists in coordinating special projects including network related wiring plans, LAN/WAN hardware/software purchases, and system installation, backup, maintenance and problem solving;
- Provide network and remote connectivity hardware/software support
- Maintains LAN user documentation including hardware/software applications, support logs and other related information
- Research and recommend network and server hardware and software
- Assist in design, install, configure, and maintaining system hardware and software
- Install, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Corporate Firewalls and other Network Security Devices
- Install, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Web Filtration System
- Install, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot State VPN and Remote Access portals for staff and vendors
- Manage staff related to the work and duties of the position
- Maintain security setting accuracy on all server and network operating systems and devices.
- Identify and define system security requirements
- Develop and document security best practices.
- Design computer security architecture and develop detailed cyber security designs
- Develop technical solutions and evaluate new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks
- Establish and maintain user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access and security privileges
- Assist in monitoring, testing, and troubleshooting system backups
- Research, analyze, monitor, and troubleshoot server or data network problems
- Provide escalation support to the Systems Engineer, Helpdesk Technician, and Helpdesk Coordinator
- Install, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot web-filtration system
- Install, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot Antivirus Servers and clients as well as patch management systems for servers, clients and network devices.
- Provide specialized training to staff on newly implemented systems and applications
- Assist Systems Engineer in installing, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting e-mail systems and accounts
- Research, analyze, and troubleshoot telecommunication related problems
- Complete helpdesk requests for Level 3, 2 and as needed, level 1 requests.
- Ability to safely & successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, & other federal, state, & local standards, including meeting qualitative & quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA & other federal, state, & local standards
- Ability to comply with all personnel policies & procedures
- Available 24/7 for Priority 1 and 2 issues unless prior approval from Supervisor, excluding Paid Time Off.
- Available from 6 AM to 9 PM for Priority 3 issues unless prior approval from Supervisor, excluding Paid Time Off.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- Associates degree in Information Technologies or related field
- 10 years experience in information technology
- 6 years experience with MPLS networking, Network failovers, Equaloic SAN storage, Barracuda Backup systems, and Cisco security and firewall appliances.
- 4 years experience with network security.
- A globally recognized certification in Security Analysis and Mediation.
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technologies or related field.

- Travel- local: 10% per week, long-distance: 5% per month
- Need to lift up and move up to 50 lbs.
