About the Job
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing exhibitions through hands-on and participatory adventures in science, aeronautics, technology, and exploration of space for the Heliophysics Science Division at Goddard Space Flight Center
- Convey general and technical information to a wide range of audience ages and demographics
- Manage, operate, and maintain NASA exhibitions, to include conceptual design and fabrication
- Support the planning and execution of events in coordination with NASA personnel and requesting organizations
- Plan, organize, staff, and execute activities that support outreach efforts (for example planning, coordinating, and executing, school visits, special tours, and events, exhibits, demonstrations, launches, and speaking engagements.)
- Develop outreach event plans
- Prepare a Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimate detailing the event costs (e.g., booth space, drayage, on-site support labor, travel, per diem)
- Coordinate logistics for each approved outreach event
- Handle multiple and complex projects simultaneously under tight timelines and changing priorities/relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks
- Generate routine and/or ad-hoc reports for OCOMM management/OCOMM customers
- Directly interface with OCOMM management and/or OCOMM customers, as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or other appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university
- Five (5) years of relevant experience
- Advanced oral and written communications
- Advanced writing and editing
- Advanced problem solving
- Must be able to travel
- Must be a US Citizen

If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. Must have hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
