Wake Tech Community College requires a Drupal Developer for a temp to perm position. The Developer must have at least two years of experience developing in Drupal 8 or higher. THIS IS A TEMP TO PERM POSITION.

**THIS IS A TEMP TO PERM POSITION. After the initial contract engagement the manager would like to hire the contractor full time. The salary for the full time position is *** per year. Wake Tech Community College is not able to offer sponsorship for the full time role. Only candidates available to work full time without sponsorship will be considered for this position.
***The successful candidate will always be able to work remotely.
The purpose of this position is to lead technical operation of the content management system that powers the main Wake Tech website and that provides data/content to ancillary applications used by the College. This position will partner with Marketing and Communications to foster engaging interactions with prospective students and parents, alumni faculty, staff and current students.
Essential Functions
* Responsible for the technical operation of content management systems powering components of the Wake Tech main web site.
* Provides technical leadership, standards, code reviews, process, and architecture to make the development and maintenance of the Wake Tech web presence more robust and resilient.
*Provides leadership on modernization tools such as cloud technologies, containerization, and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
* Responsible for the design and development of integrations of ancillary technologies/information into Wake Tech’s primary content management platform.
*Research, develop, and maintain website components, features, modules, services, integrations, and templates, including functionality for presentation and display, as well as backend programming where applicable.
*Develop and execute test plans before release of updates and fixes to ensure quality.
*Investigate website operational issues; perform root cause analysis; take corrective actions.
*Communicate degradations and outages.
*Prepare recovery procedures and other technical documentation.
*Responds to emergency situations as needed, during and after normal business hours, to identify, assess and mitigate critical operational issues
*Work independently or on teams in the implementation of web development projects as required
*Continuously learn, adopt and implement modern web development techniques and practices for mobile-first, fast-loading, user-centered web experiences.
*Leads efforts to improve user experience by analyzing web analytics data, conducting and analyzing user testing, and implementing and sustaining user/constituent feedback activities.
Minimum Requirements
*Associates Degree
*Two years of experience in content management system implementations, technical leadership.
*Two years of experience developing in Drupal 8 or higher
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
*Advanced experience building responsive websites and applications using Drupal CMS 8 or higher, HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, and JavaScript/jQuery, as well as contemporary frontend frameworks and technologies.
*Experience with developing and consuming RESTful APIs and/or data from third-party sources.
*Proficiency in working with PHP, including the creation of custom Drupal modules and themes.
*Solid understanding of relational databases, including MySQL, MariaDB. .
*Familiarity with code repository tools, along with CI/CD tools.
*Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with developers, other technical staff, and users.
*Experience working in a Linux environment is highly desired.
*Experience implementing Drupal-based websites onto both locally-hosted and cloud environments
Demonstrated knowledge of programming, systems analysis techniques, and systems development principles, and relational database principles.
*Ability to code, test, and debug software applications; provide ongoing project leadership to technical development staff; analyze problems and propose effective solution; understand functional and procedural requirements and develop alternative solutions; relate system solutions to departmental management and staff.
*Strong understanding of industry standard project management philosophies.
*Knowledge of web standards and web accessibility issues (e.g. W3C, WCAG 2.1, HTML, CSS).
*Demonstrated focus on customer service skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a wide variety of audiences.
*Ability to take a leadership role in assigning and escalating end user incidents and problems to ensure quick resolution.
*Demonstrated experience in the development of technical and user documentation.
*Ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines and high client expectations.
*Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
*Strong analytical, project management, customer service, and team-oriented interpersonal skills.
*Ability to work independently and take initiative to develop and implement new solutions to resolve issues and meet business needs.
*Advanced critical thinking and problem determination skills.
