In this role, you will manage identification and promote resolution of Fleet concerns while supporting the DDG 1000 ship class for the NAVSEA PMS 421 Program Office. Serco is seeking a Military Analyst to assist in developing and maintaining Microsoft Office based products that manage data related to DDG 1000 Class ship modernization operations and modernization data metric collection.
You will be a part of a team that works closely with our customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality support service. The team lead Matt Weber possesses over 20 years of experience supporting the Navy and is a Navy veteran. This team has been recognized by the Navy and the industry for their outstanding contributions to the contract and program.
The Military Analyst reports to the PMS 421 DDG 1000 ship class team on the status of pre-planning, production, financial, testing and completion of ship’s availably work accomplished by Master Ship Repair (MSR) Shipyards and Alteration Installation Teams (AITs). The analyst provides advanced planning support for all DDG 1000 class maintenance availabilities.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct analytical studies of DDG 1000 ship repair and modernization operations and use a rational basis for decision making or resource allocation.
- Under supervision of the government customer, track metrics on the health of programs and supporting documents.
- Maintain extensive Microsoft Excel files for each DDG 1000 shipyard availability.
- Apply operational background and analytic theory and principles to assist in solving current and/or future mission needs or to correct problem areas.
- Assist in preparing or coordinating the preparation of Microsoft Office based products.
- Participate in working groups, program development forums, analytical activities, readiness exercises, training, education, and other forums as required to accomplish contract requirements.
- Coordinate and implement technical efforts to support the pre-planning and execution of DDG 1000 availabilities. Coordinate all work efforts with Regional Maintenance Centers, government AIT sponsors, Ships Force, ISEA tech codes, shipyard contractors and Planning Yard On-Site reps.
- Monitor and report adherence to production and test milestone schedules, financial monitoring and reporting of availabilities, deconflict issues with responsible NSA and sponsoring government agency, and overall condition of ship during the avail.
- Participate in Lessons Learned conferences and other post-installation meetings (i.e., SEA 21 Hot Washes and Modernization Execution Reviews).
- Possess superior writing and presentation skills to develop briefings, documents, papers, conceptual, and analytical reports.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by PMS 421.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline plus 4 years directly relevant work experience.
- In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 8 years applicable work experience.
- An Active Secret Clearance is required.
- Experience onboard Navy ships or maintaining ship systems. Former enlisted or junior officers with engineering experience are encouraged to apply, as are former government service/contractors with Navy shipboard maintenance and modernization experience.
- Minimal travel of 10% may be required.
- Ability to multi-task.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Professional relationship with members of the Surface Ship community (whether in-person or on-line communications).

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary for this role is $73,552.19 to $119,523.82; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
