About the Job
Solvere Technical Group is seeking a Naval Architect to provide technical support and documentation for ship feasibility, concept, preliminary and contract design, integration, stability analysis, hydrodynamic and seakeeping properties. Familiarity with naval architecture software to perform ship and design analyses. Evaluate systems and equipment, develop, and analyze requirements, perform studies and documentation relating to hull form, stability, weights, structures, and design. You will develop system documentation and ship specifications for surface assets and boats, perform structural analysis and design using ISO and class society standards. Familiarity with aluminum and FRP structure and production processes including welding and lamination as it pertains to structures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct analyses on stability studies, assist with inclining experiments and weight and stability tests, and oversee design development.
- Experience with computer applications relating to naval architecture and ship design.
- Experience with corrosion principles of metals for surface assets and boats.
- Familiarity with USN, USCG, IACS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years’ progressive experience in Naval Architecture disciplines.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with Government or commercial shipbuilding programs preferred.
- Experience related to federal ship or boat building acquisition programs preferred
- Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs preferred.
Education:
BS or MS in Technical, Engineering, or Marine Degree from ABET accredited institution, related to field
of work.
Security:
- Must have a Secret Clearance or higher.
- Must pass a standard background check.
Place of Performance:
- Will work "Onsite" 2-3 days per/week in Washington, DC, and remaining days remotely.
- Washington, DC: Reliably commute to or planning to relocate before starting work (Required).
Schedule:
- 8-hour shift
- Monday to Friday ("Onsite" 2-3 days per/week in Washington, DC, and remaining days remotely).
