The Opportunity: We are seeking a skilled Naval Architect to bring strong ship architecture and design competency for Navy clients. At the intersection of mission and te chn ology, this role will help Navy acquisition organizations acquire or develop mission-suitable Navy vessels and systems. This role involves applying your naval architecture experience to performing and supporting related research and development ( R & D ) , integration, and test and evaluation ( T & E ) activities in support of acquisition programs for Navy shipbuilding. You will help to architect, design, and evaluate the operation of naval vessels and develop ship concept designs, c ond uct concept design studies and analyses, and perform operational or performance evaluations. You'll design sof tware to prepare plans, drawings, and analytical models. You'll evaluate designs for feasibility and analyze critical elements or performance of the design using analytic tools, model scale- and full-scale testing, or prototypes, as appropriate. You'll prepare reports and make recommendations for design changes. You'll identify and apply regulatory, industry, and Navy standards. You bring a zest for understanding how marine vessels are designed, how the naval architecture discipline contributes to the overall realization of a ship, and how to find and proactively mitigate risks in ship designs. You have advanced skills and competencies in vessel design conceptualization, arrangements, hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, requirements development, and performance characterization. You have strong communication skills and can effectively communicate solutions verbally and through visual media. You'll work cross-functionally with a te chn ical and acquisition team consisting of engineers of other disciplines and will lead naval architecture activities in support of program efforts. You Have: * 10+ years of experience with naval architecture for naval vessels * Experience with stability testing and seakeeping trials * Experience with shipbuilding and ship design, te chn ical drawing reviews, requirements analysis, and ship prototyping * Experience with ship design and analysis sof tware packages and tools * Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team consisting of systems engineers, electrical and electronics engineers, acquisition professionals, and logistics and sustainment professionals to achieve program outcomes * Knowledge of ship systems, weight distribution studies and testing, hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, ship design integration, and marine structural design * Ability to generate and perform quantitative analyses of ship design concepts and analyze ship designs through review of design artifacts * Top Secret clearance * Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Ocean Engineering Nice If You Have: * 15+ years of experience with naval architecture for naval vessels * Knowledge of DoD or Navy acquisition processes * Knowledge of DoD or DoN procedures and p olicies , including the DoD 5000 process * Knowledge of Navy design standards and practices for Navy ships and systems * Possession of excellent written and verbal te chn ical communication skills * Master's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering * Professional Engineering License for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Top Secret clearance is required. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
