What we’re looking for

In this role, you will be covering and analysing spot markets, writing daily/weekly news stories and networking with contacts in the natural gas industry.  You will be innately curious and personable and be able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within a designated product portfolio.

You will apply and develop skills in daily news reporting, market analysis and features in a fast-paced environment with the highest standards of journalistic independence and integrity. As part of this role, there are opportunities to travel, presentat industry conferences and lead webinar sessions, podcasts and other forms of multimedia.

What will you be doing?

• Provide real-time, breaking news and market fundamentals coverage for an online news service.
• Write analysis and feature stories for daily publications.
• Produce multiple stories on any given day, adding all needed context and background.
• Synthesize complex market and industry information quickly, adhering to strict deadlines.
• Contribute to presentations as direct by management.
• Develop and maintain rapport with key contacts and industry stakeholders and develop new sources.
• Maintain existing databases and build new ones as needed to enhance coverage.
• Cover conferences and events, some requiring travel, as well as work on special projects.

What we’re looking for in you:

• The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer.
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, economics, business, history or relevant field.
• Demonstrated reporting, writing and goal-oriented collaboration skills, with strong diplomatic, analytical and problem-solving ability.
• A basic understanding of markets: Experience covering physical commodity markets is a plus.
• A commitment to the highest level of accuracy and completing all writing within established deadlines.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite with particular experience in Excel.
