About the Role
The Chief of National Member Services is a key executive role responsible for overseeing all activities related to the NDBN and APS’ member network program. This position works closely in collaboration with the CEO, other executive team members, and the Impact & Innovation team. This role’s primary purpose is to drive strategic initiatives, ensure operational excellence, and expand our member network and the impact of its programs.
Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive team on organizational strategy and long-term planning.
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for the growth of the national member network and continued improvement of member services.
- Lead data-driven planning while ensuring cross-departmental coordination and public representation of NDBN/APS.
Membership and Network Program Oversight and Development
- Oversee the planning and implementation of NDBN’s member-facing programs which build capacity for members’ basic needs banks.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to plan and lead the annual US Conference on Poverty and Basic Needs.
- Develop scalable program models and hybrid delivery strategies to address emerging needs.
Member Network Management
- Oversee the development of program content for the National Conference on Poverty and Basic Needs.
- Lead strategies for growing and strengthening NDBN's national network of basic needs banks in order to end diaper need and period poverty in the United States.
- Oversee membership criteria, benchmarking assessments, and capacity-building initiatives.
- Develop crisis management protocols for network-wide emergencies.
Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise and mentor the Programs department staff—currently numbering five people—including hiring, development, and performance management.
- Oversee the use of Salesforce CRM, Experience Cloud member portal, and other platforms to effectively manage member data, and network growth.
- Lead effective remote/hybrid teams while fostering collaboration and innovation.
Program Performance and Reporting
- Work with the Department of Impact & Innovation to establish program performance metrics and evaluate programs that are being delivered to the network.
- Prepare and present regular reports on program activities and outcomes to the CEO, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and track KPIs for member engagement and program success.
- A master's degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field or 10 years of experience in nonprofit program management.
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of successful leadership and growth of a member network.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit operations, particularly in the basic needs or poverty alleviation sector.
- Demonstrated experience leading virtual teams and programs.
- Demonstrated experience in program development and implementation.
- Demonstrated experience with budget management and resource allocation.
- Ability to interpret and apply program evaluation data to improve program effectiveness.
- Proficiency in Salesforce CRM.
- Experience with national conference planning.

Benefits & Compensation
Salary: $125,000 - 145,000/year
Full-time Exempt
Remote with some travel required to NDBN HQ in New Haven, CT, and other events in the U.S.
