We are seeking a dedicated Activities and Volunteers Coordinator for our National City Navigation Center. This role is pivotal in enhancing our community engagements and volunteer programs. The Coordinator will be responsible for orchestrating all guest activities, managing event calendars, and overseeing the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
Activity Coordination:
- Develop, coordinate, and manage a robust calendar of events for guests, including chapel services, Bible studies, educational classes, and social gatherings. Ensure all logistical aspects are handled, such as room reservations, audio/visual setup, catering needs, and event staffing.
- Volunteer Management:
- Develop and oversee all volunteer opportunities, ensuring a rewarding experience for participants and meeting the operational needs of the Navigation Center.
- Recruit, screen, onboard, and train volunteers using SDRM's established volunteer program guidelines.
- Utilize and manage volunteer management software and databases, ensuring efficient operation and data integrity.
- Foster strong relationships with volunteers through personal interactions, including welcoming, providing tours, and conducting orientation and training specific to their roles.
- Community Engagement:
- Actively develop partnerships and represent the Rescue Mission at community events, schools, and churches.
- Coordinate and participate in community outreach efforts, enhancing the visibility and impact of SDRM's mission.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the Mission, articulating our values, vision, and the essential role of volunteers.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in continuous personal and professional growth as a follower of Jesus Christ and a spiritual leader.
- Uphold and promote the Mission's Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and core values in all professional undertakings.
Administrative Duties:
- Efficiently manage volunteer communications, including appreciation events and regular updates through newsletters and direct communications.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, generate reports, and analyze volunteer metrics to guide strategic decisions.
- Handle departmental mailings and manage related administrative tasks.
Other Requirements:
- Maintain a professional demeanor and foster a supportive work environment based on dignity, respect, compassion, and integrity.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings, maintaining confidentiality regarding sensitive Mission information.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience: At least 2 years in volunteer coordination, event planning, or a related field.
- Nonprofit experience and familiarity with serving unhoused populations preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Canva, and Mailchimp.
- Experience with CRM systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Independent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to implementing solutions.
- Spanish language proficiency is preferred.
This position is scheduled to start May 15th, 2024 and will report directly to the Director of the National City Navigation Center. The Coordinator will be an integral part of the Church and Community Engagement Team, receiving training on SDRM-wide volunteer structures, systems, and procedures.
