National Account Technical Project Manager Role Description
Job Type: Exempt
Salary: $90K- $120K
Location: Eastern or Central Time Zone (Remote)
The role of National Account Technical Project Manager at CMS is primarily responsible for managing the commissioning of new HVAC systems and controls and the follow-up and communication of daily updates regarding field service and warranty work for large National Account customer(s). Secondary responsibilities may include supporting CMS National Account team with production planning, team growth and structure plans, factory discussions and any additional needs that may be required within this growing team. The National Account Technical Project Manager role reports directly to the National Accounts Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems and controls.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and understand construction documents (i.e., blueprints, mechanical and schematic drawings) and system documents (i.e., product specifications and procedures).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Passion for customer service.
- Proven ability to solve problems.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Ability to produce results for the benefit of the company and customers while working independently without supervision.
- Ability to manage third party service providers.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite – Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Valid driver's license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions.
- Overnight travel up to 30% / Approx. week long trips
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years of HVAC service, equipment, controls, or related experience.
- Mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology degree, HVAC certification, or HVAC apprenticeship.
- Extensive understanding of HVAC systems and controls.
- Experience commissioning HVAC equipment.
- Willingness and desire for learning, personal development, and growth.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Teams.
- Overnight travel up to 30% / Ability to stay on site for up to week at a time.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to support East coast and West coast projects as required including but not limited to project calls and site visits.
- Establish project-specific start up and commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules. Verify system installation and functional performance to CMS, manufacture, and customer standards.
- Coordinate and collaborate with start-up technicians, commissioning agents, factory reps, contractors, and customer to review and interpret sequence of operations for complex equipment and controls systems.
- Provide installation support, start up, commissioning, troubleshooting and warranty support for air handling units and controls.
- Manage external service providers for specific projects, service and warranty fulfillment, manpower planning, and service project closeout. Coordinate external resources as needed to achieve closeout of projects.
- Managing the field service work plan for internal and external service providers.
- Provide troubleshooting and warranty support to customers and external service providers.
- Support National Accounts group as needed with technical service and warranty issues on active projects.
- Facilitate/schedule customer/owner training on proper operation of equipment and preventative maintenance requirements.
- Prepare daily updates of all outstanding issues and communicate to all necessary parties as required.
- Own all project issues and see them through to closure. Be able to facilitate conversation to run issues to ground quickly and effectively.
- Obtain training, certification, and conduct ongoing technical education with supported CMS product lines at the service and parts level.
- Develop and maintain a safety plan, manage work site safety, and foster a safety culture at CMS.
Other Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Work closely with the CMS National Accounts Operations Manager to maintain and improve customer satisfaction.
- Provide pre-start up assistance and coordination with the sales engineer and customer on an as needed basis.
- Collaborate with National Accounts team and Parts Manager to promote and support aftermarket parts sales for CMS equipment.
- Maintain relationships with end users of CMS equipment to deepen our company’s presence with building owners and increase our service contract base of business.
