The Multimedia Designer will be a key member of the School of Engineering and Applied Science’s Marketing and Communications team. This position will focus on creating compelling visual content and managing the School’s digital presence. The specialist will support the Director of Digital Marketing in the design and development of digital and print content, ensuring a cohesive and engaging user experience across all platforms.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong design aesthetic, technical expertise in web development, and a solid understanding of branding. This role is perfect for a creative problem solver who can translate complex ideas into visually compelling digital and print content while maintaining a consistent look and feel for the School’s online presence.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities
+ Graphic Design:
+ Design creative and visually engaging digital and print materials, including but not limited to banners, infographics, social media content, brochures, and event collateral.
+ Maintain and evolve the visual identity of the School, ensuring all design elements align with the established branding guidelines.
+ Collaborate with various departments to produce creative assets that meet specific goals and enhance the School’s marketing initiatives.
+ Website Design & Management:
+ Manage the day-to-day design, updates, and maintenance of the School’s website to ensure content is up-to-date and visually aligned with the School’s objectives.
+ Develop and enhance web pages, focusing on usability, accessibility, and responsive design principles to provide an optimal experience across devices.
+ Implement design improvements based on feedback and data analysis to optimize user experience and web engagement.
+ Work closely with the Director of Digital Marketing to ensure website content supports overall marketing strategies.
+ UX/UI and Web Development:
+ Apply user-centered design principles to create seamless user experiences for both internal and external web users.
+ Collaborate on the planning, design, and execution of website revamps and enhancements to optimize functionality and navigation.
+ Use HTML, CSS, and other web development tools to build and refine web pages and ensure they function correctly across various platforms and browsers.
+ Digital Content Strategy:
+ Support the development and implementation of the School’s digital content strategy, working closely with the Marketing team to ensure alignment with overall goals.
+ Assist in creating landing pages, email templates, and other digital assets to support campaigns.
+ Monitor website analytics and recommend improvements to increase engagement, conversions, and SEO performance.
+ Collaboration & Project Management:
+ Partner with the Director of Digital Marketing to ensure all design and web projects meet deadlines and project goals.
+ Manage multiple design and web projects simultaneously, ensuring smooth execution and timely delivery.
+ Collaborate with content creators, writers, and other team members to ensure cohesive storytelling across digital and print platforms.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Digital Media, or a related field and 3-5 years of experience in graphic design and website management, preferably in an educational or institutional setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills & Abilities:Strong proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva.Experience with web development tools such as WordPress, Drupal, or equivalent CMS platforms, along with knowledge of HTML and CSS.Familiarity with UX/UI design principles and experience optimizing websites for various user experiences.
Knowledge of SEO best practices and web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas and solutions effectively.Ability to collaborate across teams and work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with higher education or non-profit institutions.Familiarity with accessibility standards for web design (e.g., WCAG).Experience with HTML, CSS and other web development languages.Working knowledge of motion graphics and video editing is a plus.Experience with additional web design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or InVision.
