SUMMARY
The Multicraft Maintenance Trainer will report to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for developing and delivering training programs to multicraft maintenance technicians to enhance their skills and proficiency in maintaining and repairing industrial equipment and systems. The role involves creating comprehensive training modules, utilizing both in-house and external resources, and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Understand, support, and lead with Toyo values.
Training Development and Delivery:
Design, develop, and implement training programs for maintenance technicians on topics such as:
- Industrial Hydraulics and Pneumatics
- Steam Systems
- Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley PLCs
- Drives and Electronics
- Conveyors, Pumps, and Motors
- Arc Flash Safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Conduct hands-on and classroom training sessions tailored to individual and team needs.
Resource Utilization:
- Leverage in-house resources such as manuals, equipment, and experienced personnel to facilitate training.
- Coordinate with external training providers, vendors, and consultants to access specialized training resources.
Program Customization:
- Assess skill levels of technicians and customize training modules to address knowledge gaps and align with organizational goals.
- Develop training schedules and adapt materials for new hires, experienced technicians, and cross-training programs.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics.
- Maintain records of training attendance, progress, and certifications achieved by employees.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure training programs comply with OSHA regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Promote safe work practices and awareness of safety protocols during training sessions.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in industrial maintenance and training methodologies.
- Regularly update and enhance training materials to reflect current standards and organizational needs.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the maintenance manager, maintenance supervisors, engineers, and production teams to identify training needs and address operational challenges.
- Collaborate with HR for employee development plans and training-related documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance with expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, and related systems.
CERTIFICATIONS (PREFERRED)
- OSHA 10/30-hour certification.
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) or similar credential.
- PLC programming certifications (Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, etc.).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications and extensive field experience may substitute for formal education.
SKILLS
- In-depth knowledge of industrial equipment, maintenance practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in PLC programming and diagnostic tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for delivering technical training.
- Ability to develop engaging training materials and use training software.
- Commitment to promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret labor laws and regulations, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers, plant personnel, regulatory agencies and public groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
