JOB SUMMARY
Provides direct and indirect patient care inthe assigned setting. Communicates with physicians/Nurse Manager/co-workers, asappropriate about changes in patients clinical condition including results ofdiagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly andaccurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, isable to perform general nursing duties utilizing the nursing process.
DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES

oProfessional Requirements:
Knowledge of medicationsand their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinicalcondition.
Performs patient careresponsibilities considering needs specific to the plan of care.
Ability to perform anddocument a complete admission assessment to include: patients health history,problems identified, patient teaching, and discharge needs/expectations.
Ability to initiate and/orrevise an individualized nursing care plan that is based on assessment ofidentified needs/problems involving the patient and/or family.
Formulates a teaching planbased upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning;family is included in teaching as appropriate.
Demonstrates ability toperform treatments and provide services.
Provides patients with acomplete explanation of procedures or treatments.
Always provides patientsafety by keeping call light within reach, maintaining bed in a low positionwith side rails in place and locked at all times, and seeing that patients aresecured appropriately when transporting by wheelchair or stretcher.
Communicates appropriatelyand clearly to Nurse Manager, co-workers, and physicians.
Consults other departmentsas appropriate for an interdisciplinary approach to the patients needs.
Provides care appropriateto condition and age of the patient.
Participates in orientationof new personnel.
Demonstrates an ability toassist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical andmanual skills.
Manages and operatesequipment safely and correctly.
Delegates, coordinates, andsupervises patient care as necessary.
Documentation meets currentstandards and policies.
Identifies and addressespsychosocial needs of patients and family; communicates with social servicesregarding both in hospital and post discharge needs.
Completes documentation asspecified by organizational policy and procedures.
Recognizes abuse/neglectpotential.
Demonstrates a costeffective practice by efficient and non-wasteful use of supplies and linen,always following established procedures for charge items.
Participates in sharing ofknowledge and expertise through in-service, staff meetings, assisting inorientation of new personnel.

Recognizes adverse drugreactions/interactions with appropriate actions taken.
Takes appropriate measureto prevent skin breakdown.
Provides assistance withbasic self-care/ADLs, as appropriate.

oEducation/Regulatory Requirements:
Current MississippiRegistered Nurse Licensure.
CPR certified.
One year of RN OR experience preferred.
