Job Summary and Qualifications
Under general supervision operates MRI equipment, MRI compatible power injector and positions patient to produce diagnostic images in a safe manner and performs related duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Operates MRI equipment to diagnostically acceptable images according to established department protocols of designated portions of the body. Adjusts equipment and patient to correct positions for each examination. Selects the appropriate coil as called for the procedure. Instructs and explains procedures to patients. Selects proper technical factors, on an individual patient basis and according to established protocols. Seeks clarification of protocols as necessary from supervisor or interpreting physician.
2.Performs reconstruction and special processing of data.
3.Ensures required patient safety questionnaire is completed and appropriate safety measures are taken resultant to the questionnaire and the procedure protocol.
4.Records and maintains data as appropriate.
5.Arranges, attaches or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices to obtain precise position, prevent motion and aid in patient comfort.
6.Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination free condition of room, equipment and personnel.
7.Demonstrates customer services principles and behaviors appropriately.
8.Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, qualify of care or the services delivered.
9.Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
10.Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
11.Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.
12.Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- State of Florida Registered Radiologic Technologist
- Registered Radiographer (ARRT) (R) & (MR) through ARRT
- Associate Degree in Radiology Technology
Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, MRI techniques and MRI safety concepts and techniques - Required
Knowledge of MRI physics, knowledge of medical terminology - Required
