JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicates effectively with patients and family members. Assesses emotional and physical needs during examination. Initiates immediate and effective emergency treatment for life saving conditions. Ascertain pregnancy in female patients of childbearing years.
- Promotes a safe environment for patients and their families.
- Transport patient in a safe manner.
- Follow universal precautions, sharps and infection policies.
- MRI image quality must meet department protocols. This includes imaging processing and filming using preset parameters.
- Accurate labeling for proper patient identification and orientation.
- Screen patients using the contraindication questionnaire sheet.
- Documentation of patient history, pregnancy status and allergy status.
- Provide education and documentation of ARRT, IEMA, MRI Registry, and CE points.
- Completes daily Phantom and QI logs.
- Utilizes PACS, HMS, and Teleradiology pertaining to radiology.
- Follows universal safety precautions for use of the MRI machine. Is aware of Zone meaning and descriptions.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Graduate of an AMA approved radiological technologist program or MRI program.
- At least 1 year of experience in MRI.
- At least 2 years' experience in Radiology.
- Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and be licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA). Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association is required. Must have obtained the MRI registry or be willing to obtain with in 1 year.
