Who We Are……

McWane Inc. has a newly created division, McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI). This new division, based in Birmingham, AL, combines all Plant and Industrial Products in a single customer-focused package. We offer comprehensive solutions through an experienced team of professionals specifically focused on these two special markets. Our Mission is to be the Plant and Industrial supplier who is “easiest to do business with”.  We will make it easier to engineer, specify, and order components for plants.  We will provide greater support for smoother delivery, cost-effective installation, and start-up. Most importantly, we will build strong relationships with design engineers, contractors, plant operations teams and project owners to assure we are their first-choice supplier for both new construction and future upgrades.

Position:

R&D Sourcing Engineer, McWane Plant & Industrial

Directly reports to:

Director of Engineering – MPI

Position Purpose:

Develop and maintain a technical partnership with non-domestic manufacturers for strategic products.

Position Summary:

The Research, Design and Sourcing Engineer will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic, non-domestic, valve production from various overseas vendors. This individual will be expected to travel frequently to sites, both domestic and international, to maintain domestic product alignment, support validation testing for start-up and production activities, and ensure domestic distribution centers preparedness for incoming product.

Essential Functions:

• Review and approve supplier’s drawings and models, ensuring alignment with domestic product
• Provide on-site validation testing and development support
• Develop test plans, work instructions, and quality checks for domestic sites performing the accessory assembly and testing utilizing non-domestic products.
• Library development of supplier models and drawings
• Technical training for suppliers
   

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in mechanical engineering
• Project management experience and project management software skills desired
• Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple projects with attention to detail. Excellent time management skills
• Detail oriented, adept at reading documents and engineering drawings and specifications
• Valid Passport
• Valid driver’s license with no major violations
• Proficiency in MS Office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Mechanical aptitude or engineering background
• Must be a team player
