About the Job
The role of the Maintenance Manager - Mowing & Turf Management is critical to the success of Dragonfly Pond Works. The core purpose of this position is to ensure that the company's clients are serviced following the highest quality standard while maximizing the efficiency and productivity of assigned crew members operating in the field.
The role of Regional Manager - Mowing & Turf Management is responsible for planning, supervising, and leading the Mowing Team including conducting training, quality assessments, equipment and vehicle management, project management, and fieldwork.
Role and Responsibilities
Based in the Triangle and reporting to the Maintenance Division Manager, this role functions as an integral component to the smooth and profitable execution of work performed by Dragonfly. The responsibilities encompass the following:
- Management of Raleigh area mowing crews to ensure the proper, efficient, and timely completion of routine projects
- Develop and maintain a safety-first mowing program where all team members are adhering to safety precautions and best-management practices
- Quality control and continuous in-field training for assigned crews, ensure crews are completing the entire scope based on related compliance requirements and client expectations
- Scheduling of all monthly mowing accounts, time posting and review, and identify efficient routing for all assigned crew
- Get to know your people to help them develop within the company. Set goals with them and monitor their progress through timely formal and informal evaluations
- Identify equipment and material purchasing and staffing needs for the Raleigh branch in communication with the Division Manager
- Help coordinate and assist mowing operations at all other branches as needed
- Project management and oversight at key accounts. Focus on new, large, or sensitive accounts requiring additional hands-on attention
- Identify problems with turf or pond buffers that require immediate attention, relay pertinent information to appropriate Client Service Manager
- Maintain constant communication with Client Service Managers to meet and exceed client expectations
- Provide client service managers with guidance on long-term solutions for turf establishment and maintenance around stormwater control devices
- Familiarity with various turf management equipment such as zero turn mowers, Ventrac mowers, weedeaters, aerators, etc.
- Maintain vehicles and equipment in good working order, manage inventory of assigned equipment
- Assist the HR Manager and Maintenance Division Manager in the onboarding process of new Maintenance employees
- Complete all other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Division Manager
Skills and Requirements
- Former field experience (Landscaping, golf course maintenance, turf management, stormwater repairs, etc.)
- Demonstrated natural leadership and management capabilities
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to establish and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, across other teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to innovate, always looking for ways to improve

- Ability to maintain composure under pressure
- Ability to lift 80 pounds on a regular basis; work outside for long periods of time in unfavorable conditions; perform strenuous manual labor requiring considerable working, lifting, reaching, climbing, stooping, pushing, pulling and carrying
- Ability to operate equipment including mowers, and weed eaters
- Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency
