SUMMARY

Bering Straits Global Innovations, LLC, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Motor Vehicle Mechanic for Vehicle Maintenance and Operations Support (VEMOS) for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) at Tyndall Air Force Base (TAFB) and off-site.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

• Provide technical services and labor support necessary to maintain the vehicles and equipment for AFCEC at TAFB, FL, to support base and site maintenance/support and projects, including Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) projects for the Requirements and Acquisition Division (AFCEC/CXA), and to support the Airfield Pavement Evaluation (APE) team for the Asset Visibility Division (AFCEC/COA) at TAFB and off-site.
• Provide vehicle maintenance for all vehicles and equipment in shops and other equipment as required. Perform a joint serviceability inspection of the pertinent vehicles and equipment at the start of the contract. Perform at least annual functional checks to ensure vehicles and equipment are in serviceable condition. Inform COR and Government Vehicle Control Officer (VCO) of vehicles and equipment that are not in serviceable condition.
• Provide base level, mobile, scheduled, or unscheduled maintenance; preventative maintenance inspections/tests; Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) inspections; one-time inspections; service bulletins; and safety recalls. This includes major maintenance. Work in conjunction with other on-site contractors if the vehicle requires welding and lathe work as part of the major maintenance. Repetitive maintenance is required until the vehicle or equipment item is fixed or if unable to be brought to a serviceable condition the Government VCO will be informed, and a determination will be made if further work is required.
• Repair/replace unserviceable parts, assemblies, subassemblies, and components.
• Refinish, fabricate parts, make modifications, repair accessories and auxiliary equipment, body and structural repair, wood bed/racks, glass replacement, and painting and upholstery repair including carpeting, seat belts, and floor mats.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, concurrent and special inspections, tests, and calibration on or before the date, miles, hours, kilometers as specified on the scheduled inspection report, and scheduled/annual maintenance checklist.
• When necessary, transport General Service Administration (GSA) vehicles to off- base maintenance facilities.
• Provide customer service, during normal duty hours, from 0700-1600 CST as the focal point for meeting the vehicle customers and receiving all work.
• Inspect all completed work orders to ensure vehicle/equipment are fully operational and serviceable IAW TO 36-1-191 and AFI 24-302.
• Provide vehicle repairs/upgrades by obtaining commercial repair functions as required for items that need special tools or equipment not provided by the government or are beyond the capacity of the on- site repair contractor repair facility.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO’s)

• US Citizen
• Ability to receive and maintain Common Access Card (CAC)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

• At least one mechanic shall also have a Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) and operate heavy equipment (cranes, dump trucks etc.).

Preferred

• At least one mechanic should have experience in maintaining fire trucks (P-19, and RIV).

• This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

The job is performed primarily in an operational setting with exposure to military equipment and machinery, computers, and maintenance equipment. Occasional travel is required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
