I am the Technology Manager at MTC. I work in a cross functional team and lead projects focused on developing new products and processes. Passionate about the technology we work on and how it impacts multiple industries.
What Do We Do?
Business Unit: Motor Technology Center
The Motor Technology Center is responsible for the manufacture of high-quality stator and rotor stacks used in numerous applications across industries.
Ongoing Projects
Typical workday activities involve production of laminations through operations such as laser cut, anneal, magnetic/mechanical testing and eventually make stacks. Additionally, work on technology/development projects, develop experimental trial runs and review test data.
Your Role as an Intern
You will be a part of a dynamic team, supporting the following tasks:
The intern will work on multiple projects at the Motor Technology Center. This includes (i) improving the existing stack manufacturing process - gather data and suggest ways to optimize the process, (ii) consolidate and analyze data from production orders, (iii) Inhouse equipment design geared towards testing of magnetic properties of stator and rotor stacks (iv) work on technology/product development projects.

Hourly rates are based on: 1 - Program of study; 2 - Degree type (i.e., Bachelor's); 3 - Progression in degree (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, etc.). The range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00 per hour for bachelors candidates and $30.00-$35.00 for masters candidates.
Commuting/Housing Assistance (If Eligible)
Interns who must commute to work from outside the immediate Reading, PA area (over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $2,400 (less applicable taxes) as excessive commute allowance. Interns who choose to temporarily relocate from outside the immediate Reading, PA area (moving over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $4,800 (less applicable taxes) as a housing allowance. If applicable, this payment would be made during the first payroll cycle, which would be three or four weeks following the internship start date.

You must be:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program or masters degree program majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or Metallurgy
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Willing and able to work on-site at our Reading, PA location.
- Applicants MUST be US Citizens or Green Card Holders due to Carpenter's government contracts.
