Our Mortgage Servicing Specialist is responsible for providing outstanding service to internal and external members, and third-party partners. A key component is supporting the organizational philosophy of high credit quality by completing post-close loan servicing on all in-house/investor/retained servicing consumer mortgage loans originated, professionally and in the best interest of all members, and to serve as back-up to Mortgage Funder/Servicer.
The Mortgage Servicing Specialist will be responsible for managing and supporting mortgage accounts, with a focus on frequent direct communication with members and third-party partners. This role requires regular phone and email correspondence to resolve inquiries, facilitate payments, and ensure smooth processing of mortgage-related tasks. Ideal candidates should be comfortable engaging in person-to-person interactions with both members and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Establishes escrow accounts within core system following onboarding by loan funder/servicer, using initial closing escrow statement and homeowner’s insurance and tax statement; partners with others to correct any identified discrepancies.
- Research and resolves exceptions/problems relating to a) escrow accounts transactions b) tax reporting amounts, c) tax legal description, d) unpaid property taxes e) escrowed hazard insurance and f) flood insurance.
- Serves as primary point of contact for all internal and external members regarding all post-closing mortgage servicing questions/issues, excluding delinquency concerns; ensures any inquiry received related to non-servicing issues is promptly relayed to the appropriate internal partner.
- Administers submission of data to quality control (QC) vendors to meet both pre-fund and post-close quality control ratio requirements, following internal and applicable investor guidelines to ensure valid samples of both portfolio and investor files; facilitates distribution of initial qc findings and coordinates responses for review by management.
- Cross trains other employees on escrow process, mortgage payoff tracking (including escrow refunds and lien releases and custodian document requests for retained servicing loans), a homeowner insurance check claim processing.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting or Business.
- One to two years of experience in the financial industry, preferably in mortgage/consumer related lending; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
