Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for producing consistent mortgage and consumer loan production within the scope of the Bank’s Loan Policy and Procedures.
- Provides quality customer service to develop new business and maintain existing relationships.
- Contributes to profit and growth by achieving goals for expense control, profitable product sales and cross-selling bank products and services to maximize relationships; both consumer and business/commercial.
- Develops referral relationships with builders, real estate brokers, sales agents, and others as appropriate to generate mortgage loan business sufficient to meet the branch’s assigned goals.
- Establishes and helps to attain internal performance objectives for branch lending volume, loan portfolios and the quality of lending audit reports.
- Take applications, analyze information of the customer, recommend appropriate financial products while educating and communicating with customers throughout the process.
- Recommends loans and products as appropriate. Presentation to loan committee may be required for approval.
- Exercises independent judgment and discretion in working with customers regarding loan products.
- Outlines loan terms and conditions and keeps the customer informed.
- Work with all bank products and refer customers to the retail loan officers, commercial loan officers or deposit staff as deemed appropriate.
- Reviews loan requests based on the banks policies and procedures.
- Orders credit reports, reference checks (when applicable) and validate borrower’s credit, income, assets and any customer information as required on loan requests.
- Directs central appraisal ordering department to order appraisals.
- Assists in preparation of loan package, in accordance with the bank’s standards.
- Stay abreast of new legislation and regulations that affect the banks mortgage lending policies.
- Makes suggestions to management to update or add to loan terms and conditions on a case-by-case basis.
- Provide reports on the status of the bank’s mortgage loans and loan marketing strategies, based on current and past workloads.
- Handles inquiries from applicants, realtors, other various referral sources, and processing personnel. Resolves customer complaints in a timely and effective manner.
- Completes all required commission logs and call reports required by management.
- Follow all rules and guidelines of the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act) and be registered with the NMLS. Annual renewal of registration is required.
- Performs all job duties to ensure compliance with all applicable acts, laws, and regulations, and for those in a branch management role – to ensure staff has the training and resources to perform duties to maintain compliance with such acts, laws and regulations.
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- May be responsible for building a cohesive and effective team by coaching and mentoring lending staff and creating a positive work environment that encourages continuous feedback if in a management role.
- May be responsible for conducting joint staff meetings with the operations group to promote lending product knowledge, communicate progress toward goals and to reward and recognize performance if in a management role.
- May direct and oversee the lending activities for the branch.
- Consistent attendance at community events to promote the bank is expected.
Qualifications Required
(Required education may be satisfied by experience and/or working knowledge)
A High school diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of one-year current mortgage lending experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Sitting for extended periods of time, requires close visual acuity and the ability to work and operate computer applications and equipment including copy machine, telephone, scanner or other basic business equipment. Some travel is required for facilitating sales calls and meeting with customers. The job is within the normal office environment range.
Qualifications Preferred
Five years of current mortgage lending experience.
