Nature of Work
The Monitoring and Compliance Assistant is responsible for assisting in the daily oversight of the Department of Monitoring and Compliance including assurance of compliance with state licensing, federal standards and agency policies and procedures. The Monitoring and Compliance Assistant will work collaboratively with all other disciplines to provide internal consulting services, training, support and compliance monitoring.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED with a minimum of three years of professional experience in Early Childhood Special Education Services, preferably in a social service and/or early childhood education environment. Associate's degree preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides skill development and mentoring to staff progressing in their position by performing on-the job technical assistance and mentoring specific skills.
- Provide direct assistance to the Director of Monitoring and Compliance to promote continuous quality improvement and quality assurance efforts for the agency.
Content Development and Consultation
- Maintains content development expertise for all content areas and disseminates such knowledge by providing ongoing quality assistance to staff.
- Develops and disseminates resources and best practices for the process of implementing quality improvement efforts.
- Provide assistance and consultation to ensure that written policies and procedures are kept current and implemented.
- Develops and disseminates resources and best practices for the process of implementing quality improvement efforts.
Program Coordination
- Assure that all Licensing Regulations, Head Start Performance Standards and agency policies and procedures are met through the efforts of collaborative teams; establish and monitor systems that ensure program quality.
- Develops and disseminates resources and best practices for the process of implementing quality improvement efforts.
- Provide assistance and consultation to ensure that written policies and procedures are kept current for all content areas.
Miscellaneous
- Attend meetings, training and professional development activities as needed or requested by the Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge in Early Childhood Education, Head Start Performance Standards, and agency policies and procedures.
- Experience in Early Childhood Education.
- Broad-based knowledge and experience in computer applications and systems, i.e. database, spread sheet, word processing, power-point, e-mail and internet.
- Ability to utilize agency resources and technology to appropriately answer questions and provide technical support to staff.
- Demonstrated training skills, ability to provide presentations to small and large groups.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Intermediate to advanced level computer skills, internet and e-mail.
- Ability to work in a professional manner both independently and with others in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of Bulletin 137 licensing regulations.
- Diplomacy and human relations skills required.
- Ability to handle highly stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner while maintaining emotional intelligence.
- Attend Specialist staffing and consultations.
Special Considerations
Employees within this classification are required to:
- Obtain a Louisiana Child Care Criminal Background Check Determination of Eligibility
- Pass a physical examination every three years.
- Maintain a valid driver's license with a driving record in compliance with RCCDC's insurance carrier requirements.
- Be able to frequently sit, work at computer keyboard and desk, and stand to file misc. documents in filing cabinets.
- Be able to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Be able to travel overnight as required.
- Be able to travel to assigned sites.
- Be able to sustain concentration and ability to handle multiple tasks often simultaneously.
- Be able to bend, stoop and kneel and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children's need
- Be able to perform duties in an active environment with changes in climate and noise level.
