SUMMARY OF THE JOB |
The Team Leader assists the Nurse Manager/Director in the coordination, supervision, and daily operations of the remote telemetry monitoring stations and support staff to ensure consistent standards of practice and competencies in the performance of monitoring patient's rhythms. The Team Leader understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values, and goals of Deaconess Health System.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
Job Dutiesinclude the following, other duties may be assigned:
I. Personnel Management:
- Work with Human Resources and Nurse Manager(s) to interview and train allied health personnel with a goal toward efficient practice workflow.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels and development of contingent staffing and cross coverage options for vacations and/or illnesses. Coordinates replacement coverage.
- Monitors, approves and signs off on time for all direct reports in a timely manner. Monitors and controls overtime, flexes staffing according to volumes and Deaconess Hospital standards.
- Monitors, supervises and evaluates performance of all direct reports. Will seek input from Nurse Manager/Director for preparation of annual staff performance evaluations. Complete and submit to Human Resources in a timely manner.
II. Operational & Leadership:
- Manages interactions of staff within assigned areas, maintaining timely and accurate communication.
- Evaluates practice workflow, assuring the delivery of efficient remote telemetry monitoring. Works with Nursing Leadership to develop and implement improvement plans for any identified opportunity areas.
- Assesses and maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements; maintains compliance in accordance with Deaconess standards.
- Maintains proficiency by keeping abreast of monitoring procedures, techniques, equipment, and evidence-based practice.
- Communicates regularly with the Nurse Manager/Director keeping them informed of department activities, any problems that arise, and corrective steps taken.
- Holds regularly scheduled team meetings; participates in all practice specific meetings, as requested.
- Maintains knowledge of all applicable hospital policies & procedures. Communicates, promotes, and applies policy & procedure with all employees.
- Works with support departments to develop and implement regular in-service programs to assist staff in remaining current with policies & procedures, certifications, competencies, etc.
- Maintains focus on patient satisfaction; reviews survey results; develops and implements improvement plans. Promotes all patient satisfaction initiatives.
- Receives and processes patient complaints for areas of responsibility.
- Actively participates in and/or leads quality improvement initiatives.
- Accepts additional responsibilities as delegated by the Nurse Manager/Director or the Vice President of Nursing.
- Complies with Standards of Employee Conduct; serves as a positive role model for employees and co-workers; supports and respects management decisions; takes initiative to improve clinical environment and operations.
III. Financial:
- Assists in the development of annual staff and operating budgets.
- Assures the maintenance of appropriate inventory levels.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related role
Certification, License, Registrations
- Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months
- Basic Dysrhythmia
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret references, technical procedures/protocols, and regulations. Ability to write reports and other forms of correspondence. Ability to effectively present verbal and/or written information and respond to questions for all customers.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to manage multiple priorities.
Computer Skills
- This job requires computer and systems competency in the following areas: enters data, assembles and organizes data, uses and analyzes data, integrates diverse sources of data. The ability to learn and use the provided electronic medical record system within six months of attaining position.
