Job Details
We are seeking a Molecular Scientist to lead molecular projects, focusing on designing, developing, validating, and executing assays efficiently. This role involves performing analyses according to standard procedures, supporting the creation of new protocols, and improving existing ones. The Molecular Scientist will work closely with lab staff to ensure project organization, quality, and execution, while effectively communicating results to clients and fostering long-term relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement next-generation sequencing (NGS) and PCR services to meet research needs.
Design and conduct experiments, analyze data independently, and present findings accurately.
Maintain high-quality output and improve productivity metrics.
Collaborate with managers and team members to develop project timelines and meet milestones.
Train and mentor junior staff in molecular techniques and data analysis.
Establish and improve procedures and required documentation.
Troubleshoot and resolve scientific issues.
Identify and implement emerging laboratory techniques.
Ensure all experiments are performed on qualified equipment with updated logs.
Maintain a safe lab environment and support safe practices.
Collaborate with other technical teams and provide expertise.
Monitor project-related expenses.
Serve as a scientific resource to clients and internal stakeholders.
Assist with writing reports and developing presentations for clients.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required:
Master's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field.
5+ years of related laboratory experience.
Experience in molecular biology, genomics, or bioinformatics.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a team-oriented environment.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to organize and analyze data, and prepare reports.
Preferred:
PhD in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related fields.
Experience with the entire NGS workflow (Illumina or Ion Torrent), from library preparation to sequencing.
Experience in quantitative PCR (qPCR), digital droplet PCR (ddPCR), and NanoString.
Experience in DNA and RNA extractions from various sources.
Combination of molecular biology wet lab and bioinformatics skills.
