Type: Contract/ Ongoing
Location: North Philadelphia, Roxborough/Manayunk, Germantown, Mount Airy and Chestnut Hill
SUMMARY
• A Mobile Therapist / Group Mobile Therapist (MT/GMT) provides intensive psychotherapy services to a child and family in settings other than a provider agency or office.
• Settings include the child's home and school, in particular.
• Other potential settings include a community center, a neighbor's or extended family member's home, and other community settings.
• Services provided by a mobile therapist vary according to the individualized needs of a child and family and always includes the child as a participant in his/her own treatment, as well as parent and other caretakers, as members of the treatment team.
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION
Communication
• Promotes the development of adaptive skills and relationships of the child.
• Is available for crisis intervention and collaborates with child, family and other involved professionals to develop a crisis plan that can include behavioral contracts with the child and lists of community and therapeutic resources.
• Maintains contact with other members of the treatment team and assists in the implementation of the treatment plan. Helps develop daily routines, which will enhance the treatment approach indicated in the treatment plan.
Documentation
• Maintains progress notes for every billable and nonbillable contact.
• Completes and submits progress notes within 72 hours from date of service and other billing/encounter documentation weekly to his/her Clinical Manager for timely review and submission.
• Documents collateral contacts with family and other entities involved with client treatment in his/her progress notes.
• If the MTLC (Lead on the Case) creates Initial Treatment Plan, and reviews and updates the Treatment Plan as necessary at least every 6 months of treatment. Also, will update treatment plan if a significant event occurs, such as hospitalization.
Planning
• Provides child-centered, evidenced based, family-focused individual and family psychotherapy as appropriate, which addresses the defined problem areas in the treatment plan and is strength-based.
• Ensures that services provided to the child and families are unified and that there is continuity of care.
• Coordinates the overall clinical direction of treatment and determines, with the family and other involved professionals, any other necessary family or child support services (i.e., medication, psychological testing, community supports) and how they can be obtained by the family.
• If medication compliance is an issue for a child, helps the family develop daily routines that ensure medication is taken on a regular basis, and that medication check-ups with the psychiatrist are scheduled and attended by the child and family.
• Participates in clinical consultation/supervision and staff training program as required.
Monitoring
• Assesses strengths and therapeutic needs of child and family by using active listening, asking questions, and an exchange of information.
BASIC SKILL SETS
• Ability to communicate and interact with staff and consultants.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact with people in varied settings.
• Ability to assess consumer treatment needs and apply appropriate therapeutic intervention.
• Ability to give clear and concise oral and written instructions.
• Working knowledge of the Behavioral Health system. Knowledge of and ability to navigate other social service systems.
• Good working knowledge of theoretical models, therapeutic interventions and behavior modification as it relates to our consumer base.
• Ability to effectively implement conflict resolution skills in dealing with consumers and staff.
• Ability to respond in a culturally competent manner to consumer issues.
• Experience in psychosocial assessment and treatment planning.
• Experience using Electronic Medical Record (Preferred)
QUALIFICATIONS (Must have one of A-D to qualify, in addition to E &F)
• Master's Degree from an accredited university in a clinical mental health discipline AND completed clinical or MH practicum
• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification or behavioral analysis certification
• Graduate degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA)
• Licensed BSC
• At least one years' full-time paid experience in the mental health field. Excellent working knowledge of clinical issues relating to children, adolescents and families.
• Familiar with multiple child-serving systems (e.g. education, juvenile justice, child welfare, mental health, drug and alcohol, health care and vocational rehab).
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Ability to walk up and down stairs.
• Ability to lift 20 lbs.
• Ability to operate a computer, printer and calculator.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle or access public transportation.
• Requires some flexible work schedules: evening and weekend hours.
