TITLE:Mobile Team Lead
DEPARTMENT: Mobiles
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to a Supervisor II or III, the Mobile Team Lead is a supervisor in-training that has the responsibility for the coordination, set up, supervision, compliance, and customer service aspects of small blood drives. The Team Lead will coordinate with and assist Mobile Team Supervisor I, II, or III to ensure smooth operation of larger mobile blood drives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned. Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.
- Comply with existing policies and procedures; communicate information including policy and procedure changes to staff and enforce all administrative and technical policies with staff.
- Advise the Mobile Collections Supervisor, Manager and/or Operations Coordinators re operation of the mobile blood drive to include immediate notification of technical or administrative issues.
- Participate in assigned employees' appraisals.
- Assist in overtime control by reading and advising of donor flow for staff utilization.
- Perform pre-donation screening, venipuncture, and post-venipuncture care of volunteer donors as described in technical standard operating procedure manual.
- Assist with the unloading, set-up, breakdown, and reloading of portable equipment.
- Maintain Quality Control by performing calibration of mobile equipment and making adjustments as necessary and reporting malfunction to the necessary parties.
- Maintain cleanliness of inside of assigned vehicle.
- Attend meetings and seminars as required.
- Assist in the evaluation of new products and equipment pertaining to donor collections.
- Monitor and prevent loss, abuse, or waste of equipment and supplies, making sure equipment is replaced, repaired and working on proper vehicles. Maintain upkeep of assigned departmental equipment.
- Assure the completion of all official records in an accurate, legible, and timely manner.
- Actively recruit donors at donor sites.
- In the absence of a supervisor, act as on-site interface with donor recruitment staff and/or blood drive sponsors.
- Enforce The Blood Center's policies on EEO, Affirmative Action, and Safety/Health.

Attendance
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in The Blood Centers sole discretion.
Regular Hours
Full time: must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, or such other days or hours per week as The Blood Center determines are necessary to meet business needs.
Overtime (applicable only to non-exempt positions)
Must be available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as The Blood Center determines is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
Weekend and Holidays
Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as The Blood Center determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
Off-Site Work
Must be regularly able to work at off-site locations and to either transport self or be transported to same.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees assigned to Mobile Blood Drives for which the Mobile Team Leader I is sent out in charge. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED; one year of experience required in medical field with demonstrated leadership and team building skills; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strongly prefer a minimum of one year of experience working in a position at a blood center or one involving frequent interaction with the public and the use of customer service skills. Must have a record of a demonstrated capacity for leadership.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certificate of Phlebotomy desirable
EMT Certification or Associate Degree in a related field strongly preferred
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with donors so as to provide high level of customer service. Ability to interact professionally and politely with others. Ability to work in high pressure, fast paced environment. Ability to resolve conflicts.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions when loading and unloading equipment at mobile sites, toxic or caustic chemicals, and blood and/or blood components, as well as other bio-hazardous material. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Job duties involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood with a risk of exposure to Hepatitis and HIV.
