**Summary:**
Reality Labs Research (RL Research) brings together a world-class R&D team of researchers, developers, and engineers with the shared goal of developing AR and VR across the spectrum. The Surreal Vision research group at RL Research is seeking exceptional engineers and technical leads to solve the next generation of research challenges on the path to building future machine perception enabled technologies. We are looking for talented engineers to architect and build data processing and refinement systems for Project Aria; our next generation research device that helps us understand the world from a human's perspective and build next generation AI and AR experiences for AR glasses.
**Required Skills:**
ML Systems Engineer Responsibilities:
1. Plan and execute engineering development of scalable services and systems to enable state-of-the-art research on localization, mapping, and Contextualized AI in AR/VR systems.
2. Collaborate closely with researchers, engineers and product and program managers across both machine and human perception teams at Facebook to design, architect and implement prototypes for object detection and recognition.
3. Work closely with ML researchers to build a generalized framework for the full ML life cycle for the enhancement of Aria data.
4. Be familiar with industry practices for continuous improvement of machine learning systems like Automated Machine Learning and Human-in-the-Loop Machine Learning.
5. Collaborate with program managers, team leads, and cross-organizational partners to coordinate company-wide engineering efforts within the domain.
**Minimum Qualifications:**

6. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
7. 5+ years experience with real world system building, including design, coding and evaluation/testing in C++ and Python.
8. 5+ years experience working with modern deep learning frameworks like PyTorch/TensorFlow.
9. 3+ years experience with large-scale machine learning pipelines for training and inference.
10. Basic understanding of 3D computer vision algorithms and deep learning frameworks.
11. Experience leading a team in a cross-org, collaborative environment.

12. MS degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field with experience of machine learning related work or research, or PhD degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field.
13. Experience with data management services with large scale imagery and video datasets.
14. Experience with Object Detection frameworks like Detectron2.
