About the Job
The Mitigation Department Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Mitigation Department to ensure quality service and efficient project completion. This role involves supervising technicians, maintaining company standards, and working closely with the General Manager to meet department goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all mitigation staff, including foremen, technicians, and administrative support.
- Provide training, and mentorship, and conduct semi-annual performance reviews. Implement training or disciplinary measures as needed.
- Handle personnel decisions such as hiring, training, and performance reviews in line with company policies.
- Report to the General Manager and support strategic planning.
- Inspect job sites, review documentation, and manage scheduling for efficient project completion within standards.
- Enforce value-added services, address customer issues, and maintain cleanliness on job sites to enhance satisfaction.
- Develop and implement the annual budget with the General Manager, track financial performance, and manage inventory and equipment use.
- Create training agendas, conduct on-site sessions, and document activities in coordination with HR to address skill gaps and compliance.
- Participate in the on-call emergency response team and provide after-hours support as needed.
- Oversee material stock and conduct regular inspections of equipment and vehicles to ensure proper maintenance.
- Represent the department at marketing and social events, and build relationships with customers and community partners.
- Coach and train staff per IICRC standards and company values.
- Oversee job documentation using company systems and make final personnel and project-related decisions.
- Address team and customer conflicts to maintain a positive work environment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years in a managerial role within a mitigation department.
Licenses & Certifications:

- Valid Maryland driver's license.
- IICRC certifications including WRT, ASD, MRS, FSRT (or equivalent).
Skills:

- Excellent communication and public speaking abilities.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including knowledge of job estimation software and reporting tools.
- Ability to calculate figures related to budgeting, discounts, commissions, and percentages.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and operate in confined spaces like crawl spaces, attics, or storage areas.
- Frequent use of computers, driving, and entering areas not designed for human habitation.
Work Environment:
- Primarily performed on job-site locations, with some duties in an office setting.
- Requires frequent travel to various job sites and customer locations.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: From $75,000 to $110,000 per year including bonuses.
- Vacation: 1 week of paid vacation after 1 year of service.
- Personal Time: Accrues as per Maryland law (1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours/year).
- Holidays: 6 paid holidays annually.
- Vehicle: Company vehicle provided; mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use.
- Uniforms & Equipment: Provided per company policy.
