We are a private technology company that designs, develops and operates space camera systems. We are currently seeking an Electronics Engineer specializing in image sensors and ionizing radiation effects to join our multidisciplinary space imaging systems design team. As a member of our small team, you’ll be responsible for the design and development of analog, digital, and opto-electronic systems for use in science, commercial, and government applications on earth orbiting and interplanetary space missions.
Our team is currently responsible for operating cameras on the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) rover, Curiosity: the Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI) and Mast Camera (MastCam), as well as operating two cameras on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) mission: the Mars Color Imager (MARCI) and Context Camera (CTX).
Tasks will include planning, commanding, retrieving, processing, logging, and archiving of Mars images. In addition, the Operations Team is responsible for monitoring the health and safety of the flight instruments.
B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in Planetary Science/Physics/Geology/Astronomy, Computer Science, and/or Aerospace Engineering.
The successful candidate will be a quick study, have high attention to detail, possess the ability to multi-task, as well as to stay focused for long periods of time, and document their work carefully. Good communication and organizational skills are essential. We are looking for someone who enjoys working independently, as well as being an integral part of the team.
UNIX experience is required; data analysis, shell script writing, programming, systems administration experience, and/or technical writing skills are a plus.
For this position, U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence status is required for government contract work.
