Overview: As a Millwork Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the construction and interior design industry by accurately estimating costs for millwork projects. Millwork refers to custom-made woodwork and cabinetry used in building interiors, including items such as doors, windows, moldings, and countertops. Your expertise in cost estimation will ensure that projects are financially viable, competitively priced, and meet client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:

Estimation: Utilize architectural plans, specifications, and other project documents to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for millwork projects. This includes calculating quantities of materials, labor costs, and other expenses.

Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive bids and proposals based on your cost estimates. Ensure bids are competitive while maintaining profitability for the company.

Material and Vendor Management: Identify and source appropriate materials and suppliers for millwork projects. Maintain relationships with vendors to secure competitive pricing and quality materials.

Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, architects, designers, and clients to understand project requirements and specifications. Communicate effectively to clarify details and ensure accurate estimates.

Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality or design integrity.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of estimates, bids, and project documentation. Provide timely reports and updates to stakeholders regarding cost projections and changes.

Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and technological advancements in millwork materials and construction techniques.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience as a Millwork Estimator or similar role in the construction or millwork industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in reading architectural drawings and interpreting project specifications. Familiarity with estimating software and spreadsheets (e.g., Excel, AutoCAD).
- Analytical Skills: Excellent numerical and analytical abilities to accurately estimate costs and analyze project requirements.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure precise calculations and thorough documentation.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to resolve issues related to cost discrepancies or project changes.
