# Job Summary:
In this role, you will originate and check structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, material requisitions. Reviews and coordinates technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction. Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues. Participate in technical meetings and perform intra-discipline coordination. We currently have multiple Structural Engineer positions available on our Nuclear, Security & Environmental projects. Potential project locations include Oak Ridge, TN; Richland, WA; Cape Canaveral, FL and Knoxville, TN, Reston, VA. # Major Responsibilities:
+ Plans structural layout, prepares detailed structural design and layout drawings for small structures, portions of major buildings, etc.
+ Ensures designs are compliant with local and national regulations
+ Designs structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
+ Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements
+ Originates structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions
+ Review customer & vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution.
+ Participates in reviews and recommends approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements
+ Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations
# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Civil/Structural Engineering and 5-8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of education, 9-12 years of relevant work experience is acceptable.
+ Must have completed a minimum of 4 years of active-duty military service in the United States Armed Forces, with an honorable discharge.
+ Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
+ Engineer-in-training (EIT) or Registered Profession Engineer (P.E.) or ability to be obtained within 12 months.
# Required Knowledge and Skills:
+ Broad knowledge of the application of structural engineering design principles.
+ Experience executing engineering and design with Mathcad, GTSTRUDL, and STAAD or similar software.
+ Knowledge of ASCE 7, ACI 318, and AISC 360 codes.
