The Department of Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) strives to be the national model of Junior ROTC programs by developing responsible cadet-leaders of character through high-quality instruction and enrichment opportunities that enable the development of life skills, aspiration, and expectation to be college and career ready. The Department of JROTC oversees six Military Academy High Schools, one Military Academy within a school, thirty-six traditional JROTC programs, and one Middle School Cadet Corps Program.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Principal with a dotted line to the Commandant of the Military Academy, the Military Property Coordinator (MPC) holds responsibility for supply management involving equipment authorization, acquisition, disposal, and accountability of all United States Government property issued to JROTC. The MPC will also perform supply functions at Chicago Public Schools JROTC Logistics Center under the supervision of the Logistics Manager as needed.
The Military Property Coordinator will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
· Requisition, receive, store, issue, inventory and account for supplies requested through the service’s supply system.
· Secure and maintain adequate space to receive, store and issue clothing, supplies and equipment for the military academy.
· Ensure 100% physical inventory of all property is conducted in a timely manner; Maintain an accurate account of all supplies using Joint Unit Management System.
· Arrange for pick-up and delivery of laundry, dry cleaning and alterations of uniforms.
· Ensure that cadets are issued only authorized property.
· Distribute and maintain administrative and curriculum material as required.
· Examine and classify all clothing turned in by cadets for serviceability, size, and condition.
· Coordinate shipping and receiving of Chicago Public Schools Warehousing Services items.
· Maintain accurate hand-receipts for all items issued to cadets at the academy.
· Prepare all automation equipment for submission to the Defense Reutilization Marketing Office or JROTC Warehouse.
· Ensure all requests, submissions, and hand-receipt transfers are prepared in accordance with CCR 700-1.
· Maintain an open line of communication with all JROTC instructors within the academy.
· Perform other related duties as assigned by the Commandant of the academy.
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Military Property Coordinator must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
· High school diploma or GED equivalent
Experience Required:
· Minimum of three (3) years of related experience, including a minimum of one (1)year of warehousing experience
· Professional work experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite, including spreadsheets
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Ability to work on projects in a team setting with multiple contributors
· Ability to meet supply deadlines for various projects, stakeholders and events
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member
· Must be able to operate a variety of office equipment
· Proficient computer skills in a MicroSoft Office Suite environment, including spreadsheets
· Time management skills
· High attention to detail and accuracy
· Ability to quickly learn and operationalize District policies and procedures
Other Requirements:
· Must be able to lift and/or carry weight up to 50 pounds
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
· Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency- Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
· Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19- Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire. “Up-to-date” on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters. Unvaccinated staff with an approved exemption must submit to weekly testing.
