Job Title: Middleware Administrator
Responsibilities of the Middleware Administrator
EDC Consulting LLC (EDC) is seeking candidates for a Middleware Administrator for the U.S. Army in Radford, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for engineering and administering the mid-tier infrastructure, including architecting infrastructure, installing, configuring, and hardening Application and Web Servers, Portals, and associated software products in Windows and Linux environments. You will also be responsible for maintaining the infrastructure to meet availability and performance standards.
The Middleware Administrator will:
- Support Dev, Test, and Prod environments for Tomcat, Apache, IIS, Coldfusion, or JBOSS technologies.
- Assist in project releases and troubleshooting reported outages.
- Configure and install middleware technologies.
- Develop automation maintenance tasks using Ansible and PowerShell.
- Maintain security standards in the mid-tier and ensure all systems and applications meet ALTESS and ARMY security requirements.
- Work on ServiceNow tasks for installing, configuring, patching, or troubleshooting Application and Web servers.
- Document progress on tickets within ServiceNow.
- Develop automation scripts for maintenance tasks.
- Perform periodic reviews of Army Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Document common knowledge for future team use into a Knowledge Management System.
- Stay updated with industry technology and best practices to support business requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or related discipline, or comparable experience in a previous job.
- Knowledge of Application Server architecture in a large enterprise environment using IIS, Apache, Tomcat, JBOSS, ColdFusion, or similar class server systems.
- 1-2 years of experience in application server management in a large enterprise environment using IIS, Apache, Tomcat, JBOSS, ColdFusion, or similar enterprise mid-tier management tool.
- 1-2 years of experience with automating maintenance tasks in an IT Configuration Management, Deployment & Orchestration tool such as Ansible.
- 1-2 years of experience with PowerShell.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux administrations skills.
- Background in a Web Application Server environment in a substantially large enterprise.
- Understanding of application network architectures to troubleshoot firewall and port issues.
- Understanding of Private Key Infrastructure, such as SSL implementation.
- Ability to communicate professionally with external customers.
- CompTIA Security+ Certified
- Active Security Clearance
