WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
The best candidates for this position will embody the values and beliefs at the heart of the VCP mission and vision, including our commitments to persistence, community, collaboration, and critical thinking.
They will also meet the following qualifications and possess these preferred skills:
A minimum 5 years in a leadership role at the network or district level leading a team, ideally as a principal, assistant principal, or lead academic coach;
Demonstrated experience leading a team to successfully implement an academic vision, including curriculum alignment to a network-wide instructional vision;
Demonstrated ability to interpret and use staff and student performance data to align to the network mission, vision, and related operational objectives as well as drive strategic decision making in real-time;
Demonstrated capability in coaching and development, and “hire-and-fire” determinations and actions;
A deep understanding of educational standards generally, and specific knowledge of Indiana State Standards and Assessments;
A bachelor’s degree with relevant focus, ideally with an advanced degree in educational administration or similar leadership discipline;
Some experience, ideally, as a classroom teacher in a K-12 setting.
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL ACCOMPLISH
The VCP Middle School Principal will provide instructional and cultural leadership, upholding high standards for student outcomes, teacher practices, team dynamics, curriculum and assessment.
Their responsibilities will include:
Lead, manage, coach and evaluate a team of 50+ staff members
Lead the administrative team of assistant principals to implement the academic and cultural vision
With school leadership team, design and implement events, routines and procedures to promote strong staff and student culture
Communicate with student families about both academics and culture
Recruit and retain a high-quality staff
Serve as the instructional leader for professional development, curriculum mapping, weekly data meetings, and instructional coaching
Implement monitoring and feedback systems with assistant principals, using data, to move student outcomes to above average proficiency on local, state and national assessments
