Responsibilities:

Database Management:
- Manage and administer databases, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve performance issues, bottlenecks, and errors.
- Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.

Database Optimization:
- Optimize database performance and scalability through performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
- Implement database monitoring and alerting solutions to track database health, performance metrics, and capacity planning.

Security and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce database security measures, access controls, and data encryption to protect sensitive data.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and data privacy laws related to database security and data protection.

Database Design and Development:
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures that meet application requirements.
- Participate in database design reviews, code reviews, and performance testing to ensure optimal database design and functionality.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for reference and knowledge sharing.
- Generate reports and metrics related to database performance, usage, and capacity planning for management and stakeholders.

Automation and Scripting:
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools for database administration tasks such as backups, restores, and monitoring using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) are a plus.

Experience:
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in database administration or related fields.
- Proven experience managing and administering databases in production environments, including experience with database performance tuning and optimization.

Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in database management systems such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Strong SQL skills and experience writing and optimizing SQL queries.
- Familiarity with database monitoring and management tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Oracle Enterprise Manager, or pgAdmin.
