Mid-Level Human Resources Generalist

Zermount Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Human Resources Generalist to manage and support a wide range of HR functions, with a focus on employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, recruitment, and HR policy development. This role is essential in facilitating HR processes, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, administering employee benefits programs, and fostering a positive organizational culture. As a Human Resources Generalist, you will work closely with department heads and employees, providing guidance on HR-related matters and ensuring efficient operations within the HR department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the full recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, coordinating interviews, and extending job offers.
- Lead new hire onboarding processes, including paperwork, benefits enrollment, orientation sessions, and training programs.
- Serve as a liaison between employees and management to address employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
- Administer employee health and welfare plans and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and documentation within the HRIS system.
- Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for HR processes to ensure clarity and compliance.
- Manage and document employee raises, salary deductions, title changes, written counseling, and performance improvement plans.
- Review monthly invoices with benefits brokers and communicate necessary adjustments in a timely manner.
- Oversee open enrollment processes annually, including plan updates, employee communication, and enrollment support.
- Handle performance evaluations for different departments on a yearly basis, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are current, compliant, and effectively communicated to staff.
- Manage benefits programs, including open enrollment periods, plan changes, and claims resolution.
- Provide advice and support on employee engagement, retention strategies, and organizational culture initiatives.
- Conduct exit interviews and manage offboarding processes, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Assist with travel expense processes as necessary, ensuring compliance with company policy.
- Handle timesheets for employees using the Unanet system, ensuring accurate time reporting and compliance with payroll requirements.
- Assist in the development and execution of HR training programs for employees and management.
- Conduct research and stay up to date with HR best practices, industry trends, and employment law to ensure compliance and promote continuous improvement.
- Handle and maintain employee documents with a high level of security and confidentiality.
- Manage compliance with federal and state regulations, including employment laws, worker's compensation, and EEOC guidelines.
Required Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels.
- Experience handling employee relations and conflict resolution.
- Familiarity with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in HRIS platforms, particularly with HCMS (iSolved), and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Experience in benefits administration and payroll coordination is preferred.
- Experience managing timesheets and timecards using the Unanet system.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with competing deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in human resources, with a strong background in employee relations, recruitment, and benefits administration.
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP) is highly desirable.
- Experience with HCMS (iSolved) and handling employee documents with high security.
- Experience with employment law compliance, open enrollment, HR best practices, and managing employee records such as raises, deductions, and title changes.
Work Location:
Onsite; at Zermount Corporate Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
