Job Summary
Battelle is seeking a Mid-level Electromagnetic Sensor Design Engineer . This position can be located in Columbus, OH or Dayton, OH .
Battelle’s Cyber team in Columbus, OH is looking for a Mid-level Electromagnetic Sensor Design Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team, bringing together the brightest minds ranging from Physics to Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. The team works to develop, evaluate, and test unique physical and embedded security solutions for our government. The successful candidate will enjoy hands-on lab work developing outside of the box experimental testing methods.
As a Electromagnetic Sensor Design Engineer at Battelle, you will have the opportunity to hone your skills analyzing hard problems that arise from evaluating and testing physical and embedded systems.
Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with the Battelle Cyber Trust and Assurance team to develop sensor designs to meet near field probing requirements.
+ Perform complex assignments by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for computing systems, components, equipment, and networks.
+ Develop custom embedded solutions and prototypes based on customer-defined requirements to provide sensor designs in silicon devices.
+ Identify and articulate the strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions, and problem approaches during technical discussions.
+ Optimization of current solution designs and creation of novel designs based on design requirements from a multi-disciplinary team.
+ Work with internal stakeholders to support the preparation of presentations and reports. Provide input, perform demonstrations, or present on tasks during customer meetings.
Key Qualifications
+ 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Firm understanding of electromagnetic principles as it pertains to near-field sensors or antenna arrays.
+ Strong communication skills including verbal communication for internal and external damage as well technical writing for proposals, white papers, test plans and reports.
+ Demonstrated experience designing, constructing, programming, troubleshooting, and/or testing probe or antenna arrays
+ Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s Degree +3 years or PhD +1 years in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science Engineering, or related field
+ Nearfield sensor or miniaturized antenna design experience
+ Experience in test instrumentation of fabricated sensor/antenna designs
+ Experience in reverse engineering, verification and validation, and/or device processing for fabrication of integrated circuits
+ Experience with numerical modeling techniques and software for electromagnetic physics
+ Experience with HFSS or similar program for near field simulation
+ Experience in data visualization, signal processing, statistical techniques, and technical writing.
+ Solid understanding and experience with test scripting languages and communication protocols including Python, NI LabView, MATLAB, and USB or serial instrumentation automation.
+ Demonstrated understanding of integrated circuit fabrication and layout
+ Inverse Design or Design optimization experience
