About the Job
NEC Group has an exciting opportunity for motivated Civil or Environmental Engineers/Scientists to join our Remediation team in Irvine, CA. You will work with our team to deliver remediation consulting services to our key clients, such as the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), the California State Water Resources Control Board and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
You will gain experience in environmental site remediation, including but not limited to, design and operation of Soil Vapor Extraction, Groundwater Treatment and Soil Abatement. You will be exposed to multiple diverse projects and gain experience in all aspects of remediation, including site mobilization planning, system design, system installation, operation and maintenance, as well as site reporting and data analysis. Field work might be required and an acceptable driving record is a must. Salary based on Credentials with competitive base pay and benefits.
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
• Conduct field work for remediation or construction activities, field observations and data collection, and field sampling involving groundwater monitoring wells, soil vapor wells, soil, surface water, and sediments as well as documenting field activities
• Perform standard or routine calculations, input data into Microsoft Excel and/or in some cases advanced computer programs under the supervision
• Comply with company, client, and site Health and Safety standards
• Compile, organize, and evaluate field and laboratory data for incorporation into technical reports
• Prepare technical reports
• High-performance work environment
• Flexibility in work schedule and demands is required
• Assist in the design of various remediation systems
Minimum Requirements
• BA/BS in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering desired, although may accept any related field (Chemistry, Geology, Physical Science, etc.)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record and be able to work independently
• Position will require OSHA 40-hour hazardous site worker training (Paid for by the company)
• Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills
• Position will include wearing various levels of personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses/goggles, face shield, safety shoes/boots, and hard hat
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in environmental site remediation is not required but desired
• PE Certification or those working towards certification
• Groundwater remediation investigation experience is desired
• Field work might be required and must obtain and present an acceptable driving record
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications - AutoCAD experience preferred
