Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Materials Management, this position manages the activities, staff and materials and all logistics processes including transportation from the vendors/distributors, internal distribution of supplies, management of inventory (including those booked as assets and expenses), appropriate staging of products for consumption, and product disposition. The position is responsible for the coordination of all process improvement activities across care systems and for ensuring that technology is appropriately applied to each stage of the logistics process to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness (overseeing the planning, installation, training, ongoing, monitoring, repair, preventive maintenance and upgrading of information technology). This position interacts with supply chain management, department directors and managers, outside business customers, and internal senior leadership. Additionally, this role is broadly responsible for supply chain systems planning ensuring appropriate automation tools are applied to each stage of supply chain process.
Responsibilities:Manages the activities and staff for materials and all logistics processes including transportion from the vendor, 3rd party freight and distributor management, internal distribution of supplies, management of inventory (including those booked as assets and expenses), appropriate staging of products for consumption, and product disposition. This includes understanding of all work processes through an activity-based approach.
Develop information system capabilities, reports, knowledge of new or developing software applications and other technology used in supporting supply chain processes and implements these where feasible.
Manage materials management activities and staff. Supervise staff, conduct annual reviews for site leadership, and assure compliance with budgets.
Document, analyze and look for improvement opportunities in the business processes within the Logistics area. Assure policies and procedures related to distribution and placement of materials and IV related equipment is consistent within facility constraints and nuances. Specific objectives include:
• Establish a system for measuring inventory turns and PAR levels on a continuous basis.
• Identify, implement, and monitor activities against bench mark practices and industry targets.
• Identify areas for process improvement and implement process changes
• Establish on going monitoring systems related to materials management in surgery, cath lab, ED, and vascular.
• Identify and implement system-wide cost savings opportunities.
• Manage the dispensing of supplies to effectively replenish and stage products throughout each of the care systems to meet customer’s needs.
• Demonstrates ability to provide care or service while adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
• Continuously evaluating supply chain information systems needs and propose the necessary system (software and hardware) upgrades as necessary.
• Initiates new projects, policies, procedures that will improve management and operation of department.
• Demonstrates active committee participation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):
• High school or GED required
• Associate’s or Bachelor Degree preferred
• Equivalent work experience acceptable
• The Association for Operations Management Preferred, APICS or CMRP(Certified Materials Resource Professional), Value Analysis.
